Hi to all.......I am new here.

I have pregnant Persian cat as my pet.......I got her as adoption last month December 7 at that she was one month pregnant.....She was very playful and active that time and as time passed she became very lazy during end of December and was eating very less like once a day.....I got worried and took her to vet, he told me everything is fine with my cat and she was running low on Calcium, so he gave Calcium syrup........Till day before yesterday she was having one to twice food a day, but suddenly she stopped everything and will sleep full day and night.....She will get up only to use litter box and then again goes to sleep..........Now i have noticed some slight drainage is coming from her vagina, which she usually licks it and cleans it, but i have noticed some drops which fell on floor its thick fluid little red in color(only little red u cant notice its red until u see it carefully)......Vet told me this discharge is normal.......And last but not the least, she is having contractions like thing (i am not sure because i am having female cat first time in my life that to pregnant one) Her stomach gets bigger and suddenly it'l become normal after she stretches her legs and makes straining face this is happening from past five days and i told this also to vet and he said its normal.........I am very worried here as this cat has become life, so please help me.    Thank you

If she was 4 weeks pregnant on the 7th December then she's on the verge of giving birth.  She got pregnant around the 9th November which gives a due date of 13th January.

However unless the date of mating was known it's hard to be sure how far along a cat is in her pregnancy - it's easy to be a week or more out either way, so it could be any day now.

Where did you adopt her from and how was how far pregnant she is determined?

I think she's slightly further along that you've been told and is just about due.

Not eating is normal when they are close, sleeping all the time and only rising for the litter tray is not though. Neither is thick red fluid. Straining for 5 days, unless you just mean some discomfort when trying to lay down is again not normal.  Are you in a country lacking vet care?

Is there another vet you can ring for a second opinon? I do think a check up may be what's needed, not often recommended as it can stress the mother to be, but the symptoms you describe are a bit worrying.

Yes....I have second vet....but its convenient to travel her.....As my first vet clinic is very near it hardly 2 km from home and the second vet is 7 km from home.........Is it okay for travelling her?

She is become very restless now just roaming around the house and sitting for 5 mins and going to litter box and again coming and roaming and again sleeping like that.

Have you got a birthing box prepared? She needs a cardboard box, or even blankets on the floor of a wardrobe (so it's nice and private) as her safe place to give birth.

Visiting the litter tray can be a sign of labour, they mistake the pressures of babies coming for needing to use the tray.

Does she still look as pregnant? Before they are born ,the babies move down and the girl will look much slimmer, almost like she's not pregnant at all.

Ask the vet what they think, 2k is not far to travel.

Yes, i have created cardboard box for her to give birth...........She often goes inside the box and sleeps and comes out.......I have kept towels inside for her.  yes 2k is not far will ask vet and take her to clinic if possible and yes she is looking slimmer now ( I think that is maybe she is not having food) and u can actually feel the baby when she has contraction..........Her nipples are big, but when i pressed it there was no sign of milk.

Milk often doesn't come in until after birth. Is she vocal at all?

In labour and pre-labour the girls are often quite vocal, almost sounding like they're in heat sometimes.

I would at least ring the vet, I think it is afternoon there now? Try to do something before they close for the evening.

Please update with how you get on.

It's hard, without seeing the cat to tell if her symptoms are normal or not.

So he is going to see her.  Let us know what he says and it might help you if you take notes - it's easy to forget something afterwards.
