Hello everyone!

I think my kitten (4 months old) maybe drank a bit of my coffee. She seems to have vomited on her blanket. She never did that before. And she also had diarrhea or very soft stool. She also seems a bit more hyper in the morning (although she didn't have her night crazies last night). I couldn't figure out what caused the vomit -- she's on raw diet, but never had this problem. But then, I noticed that I left a a bit of coffee in my cup. I usually drink black but I put some milk this time. She doesn't really care for my coffee usually, but could coffee cause this? She seems to be OK now. If it did cause something in her, she vomited so it should be fine?

Thank you for any info!

Coffee is very poisonous to cats. I'd take her to the vet to be checked over, if she were mine. And never leave a cup of coffee out again. :)

Let us know how she is.

When ingested by pets, methylxanthines can cause vomiting and diarrhea, panting, excessive thirst and urination, hyperactivity, abnormal heart rhythm, tremors, seizures and even death.

Thank you for your feedbacks!

She's just fine as normal, purring to sleep on my lap now. :) Maybe it wasn't the coffee after all. I left out 2 small pieces of raw chicken neck she didn't finish last night. I don't usually do it, but I thought it would be OK since the temperature here is really low, but maybe it got too cold or something when she ate them during the night. I tried putting the same kind of coffee to her face to see if she would try to drink it, but she's not interested. I'm taking her to the vet this week anyway, so I'll tell him about it. I'll make sure I won't leave any coffee or left over food out now, though!

OK, an update: when I looked at the vomit more closely while washing it, there was actually a feather from a toy! Well, glad she coughed it up and it wasn't anything about what she ate. I guess I still need to check the food for the soft stool, though.

Yeah, glad it was a feather.

I drink coffee, with a little cream.  Ritz has sometimes sniffed it but never expressed an interest in eating/drinking it.  I would think the taste would be bitter and temperature too hot.

She does the same with hot chocolate (which is just as bad for cats as coffee).
