Our cat cannot see after spaying surgery.  We were told cat had to be revived (CPR) after the surgery.  She had lost consciousness for about 2 minutes.  We got her checked out by a vet next day because she could not see.  He said he has not seen a case of blindness like this in 30 years of practice. He thinks it was from anesthesia; and he said it could be temporary based on internet research.  The cat seems frustrated.  Any suggestions?  We are hopeful she may see, based on some e-mails we read in this forum.

Hello and welcome to The Cat Site. I am sorry for what happened to your cat. I have no experience or knowledge of this problem. I just wanted to say I hope this is temporary and that your cat will recover. Keep checking here. Maybe someone else will have some knowledge and some advice for you.

I'm so sorry you're going through this.  I don't have any help, but I am sure someone will be along with more wisdom.

Fighting for ferals in NW NJ!
First of all, I'm so sorry this has happened. :hugs: :hugs: :hugs:

Do you happen to know if she was administered Baytril at the time of her spay?

I also found this: http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S1090023312000640 I didn't buy the full article, but the abstract really is enough. 14 of the 20 cats had their sight return.

I'm sure the poor baby seems frustrated, but even if her sight does not return, she will adjust! There are a number of members here with blind kitties, and they do just fine if you're aware of how to manage their needs. This "about us" page of Blind Cat Rescue has some info: http://blindcatrescue.com/Aboutus.html

Vibes your baby regains her sight! :vibes: :vibes: :vibes: :vibes: :vibes:

I'm new to this site and does it have option for messagin the thread starters other than reply
Not sure what you mean. You can tag a member in a post by typing @ and their name following that. That should send them an alert that they have been tagged, but only if they still access this site. You can send them a private message too, by clicking on the envelope that is just to the right of your name in the top line of listings (to the left of the 'bell' and the search option). That too will only work if they are still actively looking for alerts.
