When Blackberry first came to us, she was covered in sores. Her previous owner had put a flea collar on her and underneath it there sores on top of sores, literally clumped up. We took her to the vet and he said it was an allergy to fleas. She is now treated regularly with topical prescription flea medicine and occasionally has to go in for a shot if she starts to develop any problems. Her skin was very clear, but last week we noticed she was scratching and starting to develop some sores under her chin. DH took her to the vet on Thursday. Our regular vet wasn't in, but she saw the other vet and he gave her a shot, along with her feline leukemia booster. DH brought her home. She was somewhat lethargic and didn't seem to feel well, but I figured it was because she didn't feel well after the "vet stress" and shots.
This morning (Saturday) the vet called our house. The first time, DH missed the call. The second time, the vet himself talked to him and wanted to know how Blackberry was doing...was she eating...was she lethargic...did she seem okay? He was concerned. He told DH that the medicine he gave her was very potent. I thought it was kind odd for the vet to call a couple days after the fact asking questions. I am wondering if the vet made some kind of mistake with the medicine. I wish the vet's office was open now, so I could talk to him (not to accuse; just to find out more about his concerns). Even though Blackberry seems fine, now we are worried. What do you think? Normally, our vet's office only calls to check up after a cat's come home from surgery.
