Hey guys

My 12 year old had stopped eating about 5 months ago, she was basically anorexic and I syringe fed her multiple times a day everyday. After her first vet visit I was told that she had an infected mouth and she was put on antibiotics.
It became apparent to me that she stopped eating because it hurt her mouth too much. When the infection went away I switched her diet from Wellness canned food to Natural Balance canned food which she loves because she's a huge sweet tooth. Unfortunately, when I switched to NB I noticed she had lost a long 6" strip of fur down her back from her chewing at herself and she developed an infected scabby rash which turned out to be miliary dermatitis caused by food allergies.

The rash became infected because her mouth infection came back with a vengeance.
My poor kitty has just gotten 7 teeth removed and now that the painful mouth factor is out of the way I need to figure out how to feed her. My vet told me to buy stella and chewy's which isn't soft enough for my cats tender gums right now, or Nature Variety's Instinct canned food. She won't touch the instinct.

I would love to go raw, or just transition her to instinct or other healthy grain-free cat food options. Basically my question is this: How do I transition my cat from one food to another if she is allergic to the original food? Especially if it's the food she likes.. I'm really lost.

Hopefully someone can help me out! Thanks peoples!/Text

The thing is that I rotated flavors very frequently, I liked choosing every flavor and filling up my basket at the pet store

I'm just not sure how to TRANSITION foods if she is allergic to the original food.

Stella & Chewy's are very soft patties and you can cut into it with a fork. I don't think she'll have a problem eating it. I'll send you some instructions on how to switch.

I didn't know they sold S&C in patties for cats. I got the freeze dried pouches that you add water too and the texture seemed really fibery

Instructions would very VERY appreciated!!

Yes the ones that are for dogs are for cats as well. I've called and asked and they said yes, absolutely. I fed them to my sister's cats for 2 years and they did really well on them. Matter of fact the one that is still alive should be back on it since she's having poop issues. I'm going to do that. But you can get the ones for cats if you really feel more comfortable, just ask your place to order them and they should be able to. I PMed you instructions btw.

When I found out my cat had allergies, I stopped feeding the old food immediately. I bought Natural Balance in various different flavors until I realized fish was all he could have.* But, I've always been strict with my kitty, so he's not picky. He eats what I put down, no matter what.
If she won't budge on new food (stares at it for 12+ hours without eating), then you may have to do some clever strategizing involving mixing the food, adding toppers, etc.

* We're working on that now, but that's a different story.
