I feed feral and strays around here. few months ago a cute stray moved into my heated cat enclosure outside.

last Wednesday I noticed she was lethargic. Then i notice bite marks on her. Took her to the vet. She'd been attacked by a large animal. Had puncture wound under left ear, on right shoulder and right elbow (had tendon hanging loose). And her left back foot had all the claws either broken off, of ground down severely as she tried to escape.

Took her to the vet first thing Wednesday morning. They kept her for tending to the wounds. This was a week ago. They gave her a thorough exam, took blood, gave her antibiotics every day until today, and gave her numerous checkups, and pain medication during her stay. I'm going to pick her up tomorrow. That's 8 days.

I called today dreading to find out how much i needed to pay to pick her up.... The total, after everything, including boarding her for 8 day, is just under $150.00. Can you believe that? I'm a customer of this vet for life now. That is so awesome!

That's fantastic to be able to help so much and be able to afford it. Sounds quite reasonable! Could be good karma too! ;)

I'm just happy she's ok, and amazed it was so cheap. i was dreading it. I assumed it would be over 500.

Yes. I originally built her a heated house outside, but she was attacked. I have to very scaredy cats with me. I am quarantined to a single room. I don't know how I'm going to handle the introduction,. but I can't bear to put her back outside for whatever dog it was to come along and finish the job.

She's got stomatitis. The doc says she will always have it, and at some point the meds will stop working. At that point it's a question of quality of life. So my decision at that point was it would be very hard to adopt her out with that illness. So i'll do whatever it takes to make sure the rest of her life is an comfortable as possible. I was OK (not happy, just OK) with leaving her outside after I built the heated enclosure, but after this, no way, I can't leave her outside.

also, secretly I think the vet is just being nice to me. She knows it's not my cat and it's a stray, and she sees i'm trying to do a good thing so she's helping. At least that's what I think

Pickle bringing me a mouse :) covered in catnip

here's the enclosure I built for her. i added a comforter, then a heated cat pad which heats when the pressure of her laying on it happens. (stays 50 to 55 degrees inside, even when 20 or lower outside)

This is when i first noticed something was wrong with pickle. (i put a camera inside the enclosure so I could tend to her if something happened)

and here's sweet little pickle at the local vet. I go visit her almost daily to hold her and keep her company. brought some of her toys too

Oh, she's such a beautiful girl! No wonder you fell in love!

Just take it slow, and that introduction will go just fine. This is one little stray who has landed on her feet.

She is a beautiful kitty and deserves all the love and care you are giving her.  You are very blessed to have each other.  I hope she has many, many years of a good quality of life.  You are a Godsend to her.

What a great enclosure for pickle or any cat! Love the cam. Her face reminds me of a human(!) named Kendall (someone I know). Love tabbies with white feet and paws. That vet sure sounds nice, and of course so do you, fastnoc. Joyous safe holidays to you
