Hello there, My 1 year and a month delivered a new 5 healthy kittens.

Now that I gave her a new box and new litter-box that is near to her and her kittens but she never pooped so far. I feed her some raw meat and chicken.

She left once from the box and came to me meowing few times and then she headed to the door. I thought she was hungry but I was mistaken. Then I pet her few times and she calmed.

Before she delivered 3 days ago, I noticed that there is a small rashes around her ear and one above her right eye. It is not spread around all her body just her face. It looks like if you got stung by a mosquito and you kept scratching the itchy skin until you bleed it. I assumed maybe there were a mosquito in the house cause she keeps scratching it.

Now that i have a few question:
  • Is it a good idea to move the litter box to another place for her?
  • Is it OK to feed her raw meat?
  • Should I care more about those rashes?
  • What dose the meowing means? Need more care form me or....?
  • Should I spay her? and when?
  • Any thing I am missing I could use an advice.

It can take a day or so for some girls to use the litter, mine have never waited that long though. Does she have unlimited food access? Raising kittens takes a lot of energy and a good food supply is needed.

The litter tray needs to be near her box, but not too close.

Her meowing at you is because she's unsettled, some girls take a few days to fully bond with their kittens - after that they shouldn't leave much at all.

You may need a vet to check her rash, it could be something that will spread to the kittens.

Feeding her raw is fine, but you'll need to increase how often and how much she is fed. You can leave a good quality dry down for her as well.

She definitely needs to be spayed and don't allow her outdoors again until she is.  Her and the litter can be done at 10-12 weeks, with the kittens being rehomed at 12 weeks.

Seconding above.

Want to add.  Raw feeding is good as long it goes, but she does now need more. I suppose goat milk is nicely in line with raw thinking... Containing also calcium.

When you say chicken, how does it mean? what parts?

If it is just muscles, the diet contains too little calcium. and now she does need richely with calcium.

Look also up our subforum Nutrition - Raw food, for ideas. Raw meat and chicken is good, but you must know how to balance.

People do often use qood quality kitten dry food as food for queens, so if you dont mind this, give it her as extra.

Good if you weigh your kittens every day, on a kitchen scale.

About the rash...  A common cause for such rash is allergy. It is usually over whole body, but you see it where the fur is thin, ie in the face...

Question is, against what is she allergic, if her diet is mainly meat and chicken, none of them are common allergenens...   But try to think what... Food, litter... Can be tricky to find.  Although I understand vets do have nowadays tests for it.

It may also be other causes.

Best perhaps if you phone your vet and ask for advice.  You can always tell you dont want to take her in now if not necessary, as she is new mom.

Ask about the poop at the same time!

Welcome to our  Forums!

Good luck!
