I've noticed symmetrical swelling on my kitten's lower abdomen around her groin area.
I was hoping and would greatly appreciate if anyone could assist me in figuring out what might be the cause of this; I have extensively done research on my own and have come up with nothing conclusive, and I know that there are many on here much more knowledgeable than myself.

Can anyone please help me? This is my first animal and I am very concerned.

BACKGROUND:
- Female.
- Domestic shorthair/mix.
- 4 months of age tomorrow morning.
- Recently rescued four days ago.
- Recently spayed five days ago. (Bump is three inches under incision)
- Fairly active two days post-operation, and I blame myself for this due to knowing she should have been more restful. :(
- No signs of distress, although there has been more vocalization from her after an initial quiet home-coming.
- I have noticed slight licking of the swelling site.

CHARACTERISTICS:
- Yellow crust several centimeters long, only millimeters in width.
- The swollen area is around 3/4" by 3/4 inches, bump is somewhat hard.
- No red irritation, no pus, and no loss of hair due to her being shaved for previous surgery.

I'm worried about it being an inguinal hernia, due to foremost the kitten's health, but my low-income status and the extensive cost of surgery.
If you had advice on alternative options in her care, or what you you think I should do about applying for insurance, I would also appreciate that as well. I live in Salem, Oregon and any recommendations for a veterinarian would be amazing, for I am at a loss of where to go and how to proceed.
I intend on taking her to a veterinarian, with a free exam I got upon adoption, first thing when they open tomorrow morning.

Thank you anyone for any input you might give me! I cannot express my gratitude on even the slightest amount of assistance.

Please ring the vet who neutered her today, as soon as they open.  Although you are not seeing pus it sounds a bit like an infection.  It also sounds like you are stressing majorly and speaking to the vet will probably help there.
