Well, Baloo isn't feral. He's quite territorial, but friendly to everyone - as long as they're people or dogs. :lol3:

.

Smokey Such a sweetie. Insanely skittish, but loves being petted and has a huge purr motor!

.

Little Dot... my sweetie. :heart2:

.

Babygirl. Sister of Little Dot and Tabby. Eats in my presence, but don't touch!

.

Tabby. Finally - after four years, someone is using the Feral Villa! :lol3: Tabby now rubs my legs as I put food out. :lol3:

.

Fog (Froggie). Love catnip, brushes, and cheek rubs!

.

Fog's crazy sister, Khol. She is a psycho, hissing, spitting kitty - but to the other cats. We can't pet her, but she twists herself around our legs, and we just let her pet herself on us. :seesaw:

.

The real feral ferals... Peanutbutter (in front) and her brother PBT. Peanutbutter is here most every day, keeps her distance, but mews to let me know to put food down for her. :rub:

.

Cool Kitty. These days, not a frequent visitor, but we see him from time-to-time. :heart2:

.

...and I have a picture of Inklbot somewhere, but I'll have to find it later. :lol3:
.

All TNR'd... except Tommy. He's the current project.

They are happy and healthy! :heart2: They get any vet care as needed, whether via crate or trap.

I feed my indoor cats raw food, and the ferals get extras and leftovers. Tommy will only eat raw. The funny thing is that when it comes to the raw food I put out for them, they're just as picky (as individuals) as the indoor kitties. :lol3: But I've seen them all hunt, and they happily eat mice. Smokey seems to specialize in Blue Jays. I'm not in love with them hunting birds... but at least it's Blue Jays.

We also feed them wet food - Friskies Pate (no fishy flavors, none with "cheese"), and Fancy Feast (when on sale). Now that we'll be heading into freezing temperatures, I will start putting out kibble for them, because they can't eat frozen food (those that aren't here at meal time). I use a mix of Tractor Supply's 4Health and Evo. And no, we can't afford it, but we do it anyway. :rub:

OH GOODNESS GRACIOUS!!!!!!! :thud: Another thread I have missed. :lol3: OH LAURIE!! I had no idea how absolutely adorable Smokey is. I had visions of him in my mind but BOY he is really gorgeous  AWWWWW I am lovin' all of your pictures and thank you for posting them. I have to say that KOHL has stolen my heart just from that one photo. What a darling and MISCHIEVOUS face she has. Really, really cute. AND LOOK at the stunningly beautiful marbling coat patterns on Cool Kitty, PB and PBT!!!!! Definite relatives of Chumley. Your feral crew are looking so very healthy, happy and in excellent condition all because of your care and LOVE :heart3: :clap::clap::clap::clap:

Had to have another closer look. :flail: I am sorry, but KOHL!!! She has the most silly expression and looks to be irresponsibly playful and a troublemaker. :lol3: :lol2: TOOOOOOO CUTE!!!!! We need more of Kohl. :pix:

Hmm, are long fur versions more rare over there?

Such a large and healthy looking family you have there! :)

I think Lauren has had long haired ferals. But in 10+ years of TNR, my husband and I have never encountered a long haired feral. We've worked in the northern counties of NJ and done trapping in Yonkers, NY.

Yep, 90% of my feral cats are long-haired!!! Had a serious problem with one last Spring when in March the weather spiked into the mid-80's and Willow literally baked from the inside out and developed a hot spot on his back. I don't know how these feral cats manage with those long coats but I have not seen any of mine with heavy matting. Somehow long-haired feral cats seem to manage their coats quite well. It always amazes me how the feral cat seems to stay so healthy and happy particularly when they have a caretaker. Seems that mother nature plays a part in their care too. :bigwink:

Interesting, here there is quite often at least one in a litter when talking about ferals, not most rare, but not too common.

My long haired ones are getting serious issues of what I guess is this matting, maybe yours have thicker hair, thin hair seems to be one that causes the most issues.

You know I have never thought about it until now but I have only had 1 long hair feral who I ended bringing in when she was pregnant and she had a long haired kitten. All of my other feral past and current have been short haired. Most are also black and white variations, tuxedo or cow kitty except a few. Now I have some orange, grey and a calico in my colony.

Well, with any luck, Tommy will be trapped before he annualizes as a "current trapping project." :anon: We'd given away our drop trap, and despite trying every 4 to 6 weeks or so, we have just not been able to trap Tommy. We will FINALLY have a functional drop trap inside of a day or two, so after this storm, when the weather warms up a bit (next week?)... Tommy, you WILL be neutered! :cross: :vibes: ;)

Pawley joined us this summer. He seems to live under the RV. We've seen him out from under the RV ONCE. Hopefully we'll figure a way to get him with the drop trap. I mean - he must come out from under there to go to the bathroom. :dk:

He's adorable:

We haven't seen PBT, Inkblot, or Cool Kitty for a long time. A long time. :( :vibes: :vibes: :vibes:

And Treebie (whose name derives from his having treed Little Dot this summer when he turned up) we were able to trap the day after we first saw him. He tested positive for FIV. He keeps his distance, but we see him every few days. The way he bolted out of the trap, we weren't sure he'd be back. :rub:

This is the only picture I have of him.

I do have a better picture of Tommy:

Happy trapping vibes coming your way.  Come on Tommy, get into that trap.  Hopefully Pawley will join him in the fun!!

When I looked at your pictures of your ferals, the picture of Cool Kitty looks so much like my Patches.  The swirled marbeling of his coat.

What a beautiful beautiful bunch.

We're going to need those vibes. We have tried every trick we know with Tommy, and he'll happily enter the feeding stations, he'll head under the RV... but no matter how we disguise the Hav-a-hart, he will circle it, sniff it (and we've cleaned it, sprayed it with Feliway, used catnip spray, etc. to make sure he didn't smell other cats' fear on it) - he'll even sit at the end opposite the entrance and try to get his paws through the wire to get out the tuna, sardines or KFC - but he will NOT go in it. :dk: First one in 11+ years of trapping. I do hope the drop trap works - easily! :cross:
