So i feed my 1 year and some months old cat dry and wet everyday, and i have been trying to get her off Fancy feast wet food into something healthier. I have literally went down the aisle of petco, and just picked cans of different flavors out of every single brand, even cheaper brands, and she did not like one of them, and i came close to avo derm salmon, and natrual balance ocean fish, but when i tried them the 2nd day, she just left half of it in there, but once i give her a can of fancy feast chicken classic, she eats half of it in the first couple of mins in my face, i dont get this

I dont mind her being on it, just as long she doesnt throw up or anything, but its just her coat is not as shiney, and healthy as it would be on other food, then if i keep feeding her the same fancy feast can everyday, which is what she likes, she would get tired of it, and start to leave some in there when i get back from work, cause she did this before in the past when she got tired of the same wet food everyday, then when i tried to switch to something else, she would take a couple of licks and thats it, give her another fancy feast can the next day, she will eat it whole, i dont understand

By the way she likes the same dry food everyday, i tried to change that a couple of months back but all she would eat was her nutro max, but with wet food if i try to change it up she would want the same thing, but then she would tire herself out with it, this is really confusing me

My two kitties LOVE Fancy feast. I feed them the Fancy feast kitten turkey, and chicken and cheese, and they LOVE it. I dont see anything wrong with it, my only issue is that it doesn't have fish oil, flaxseed, like a lot of the other ones do.. I think its fine in moderation, as long as they get other stuff too.. Callie and Lily also get Blue Buffalo Salmon, Royal Canin Kitten, Soulistic, and Merrick(fav is the turdurken). They too, are VERY picky, so I'm glad they both enjoy the the fancy feast.

You could buy some fish oil and add it.  I got a big thing of salmon oil for cats and dogs.  You could also try mixing the foods and slowly weaning her onto a healthier variety.  OR, the tough love approach.  Just switch it.  Chances are, she won't starve herself.  Eventually she'll eat the new food (most likely).  If she REALLY won't eat anything else and the only way for her to get enough food is to eat Fancy Feast, then I would just stick with it and add supplements.

Fancy Feast Classics are pretty good nutritionally for your cat.  You can supplement wet food if you think your cats can benefit from it.  I'd research it a bit and have specific things in mind that you may want to try to improve with your cats nutrition before just adding anything in.  There are a lot of good probiotics etc. which can be added if needed.  I feed my cats Nutro Max and Nutro Natural Choice wet foods.  I also buy other premium brands to give them a variety of flavors and textures.  You might want to mix up your brands of wet food.  Most formulas of the different brands offer slightly different nutritional benefits.

My cat Ritz (female) became addicted to FF Classic Seafood, that is the only food she would eat.  It has too much fish, too smelly; I attribute Ritz getting two UTIs in six months to the seafood (as well as stress).

Morale:  rotate, rotate, rotate.

I eventually transitioned Ritz to feeding raw, and now she'll eat any kind of protein.

When I was fostering a cat, I did give the foster cat FF as well as high quality canned food.  FF is relatively low in carbohydrates.

I know how you feel. My guy will only eat the Merrick brand foods and refuses anything else! Brats!
Have you had any luck mixing half and half? That is the only way Bo will eat anything but Merrick!

I'm not much of a supplement expert, but if you look into the different things available, I'm sure most of them can be added to canned food.  If it comes in pill form, you can get a pill crusher and add the powder.

Be careful if you are going to supplement a food that is already supplemented. Certain vitamin overdoses can be toxic and very dangerous. Consult a vet first.

Have you tried mixing the two foods? like example 2/3 part fancy feast with 1/3 part new brand? I did that with a brand I was trying to get my cat off of and it worked with both wet and dry

And wen I went to Petco last I bought 15 brands there to many to name off but all of them was a no grain wet and I bought chicken ,tuna, salmon before grain and nature variety instinct chicken and my cats love it.

didnt realize that this post was still going on, but actually i have not tried this, i have tried this with her dry food, but it was a fail, she would rather starve, but with wet food i havent, what i would usually do is just give her a whole new can, and she will take couple of licks off it, and i would usually wait for the next day to see if she eats it, but then sometimes its barely touched, i guess she kind of says, "well since this insnt fancy feast wet food, then i will eat my dry food, till he gives me my fancy feast the next day" lol, i also feed her just fancy feast classics, and not the chunky or sliced, since they are not that good i heard, and she doesnt even like sliced or chunky wet food anyways, so it works for me

But again my only thing is the fur, if i can find a fancy feast food that makes her fur looks better, but i doubt it in fancy feast

But i will try this out, and see what she does

yes she is, thanks for the help, i will make sure not to do fancy feast again, i only switched to it because she was starting not to eat any other wet food i gave her, and fancy feast was the last resort, and whats funny about this, is i gave her fancy feast when i first got her at 3 months, but then i didnt do it after that, i started to give her wellness core, and when she got a year old, thats when she started to get very picky about it

thank you again
