I am the proud poppa of 4 former ferals (now full-time indoor luvs.) Lily, Daisy, Sweetie, & Savannah.
I adopted Lily & Daisy 6 years ago from a friend who is a TRUE feral angel. She owns property near Victoria, TX on which there are several feral colonies. She TNR's as many as she can on an ongoing basis. She brought Lily & Daisy to me with a group of 5 other beauties. The seven kittens were released in my home with me laying on the floor in front of the carrier. Lily came straight to me & nestled in my arms. The others wandered around a bit, checking the place out. Finally Daisy crawled up onto my back, looking over my shoulder at Lily. That was it. They chose me.
About a year later after having moved in with a friend, Sweetie claimed the backyard as her special sanctuary. She'd meet me every morning & walk & sit with me. Finally, she showed signs of going into heat (I know, I waited a bit long, sorry.) I then took her in to be spayed & made her a member of our full-time indoor family.
Just recently a little kitten appeared at work. We all took care of her, bringing her food & keeping her company. She was friendly but reluctant to get too close. I became her BBF when I brought some wet food for her. It then became difficult for me to keep her back so I could work (also, difficult for ME to stay away from her.) So, she too has joined our full-time indoor family. Her name is Savannah. She is one energetic little ball of fur & has renewed the sense of "kitten-hood" in her big sisters. They too have been great "big sisters" & have accepted her very nicely.
