I had my first ever cortizone shot today in my foot of all places.  I have a bone spur that has been killing me for a while now.  It started with little pain but grew to be hugh pain so I went to a specialist a month ago.  I have to sleep with a leg splint and a foot splint during the day.  I also have to do exercises which can be painful.  Today he again said I should get a cortizone shot so I finally did.  It wasn't painful as I thought, I just have a very low tolerance to pain.

So have any of you ever had a cortizone shot and where did you need it.

Because we cannot fix our errors, I had to reply to my own post.

What I meant to say was the cortizone shot wasn't as painful as I thought it would be, it hurt a little tho, just a burning feeling.  The prick of the needle I didn't even feel.  I also think I'm spelling Cortizone wrong,

My mom had some cortisone shots in her feet for heel spurs....she said they weren't that bad. But they don't last; she ended up having to have the spurs removed eventually. (A friend of mine....Pat's husband? You remember her? Her husband had to have a cortisone shot in his shoulder and never had a bit of trouble with his shoulder after that.)

I was using a leg splint on my left leg back during the spring. It was a big thing, from my knee down to and including my foot....I had to strap it to my leg and could only wear it in bed. If I had to get up during the night, I had to take it off bc I wasn't allowed to walk in it. A real PITB it was.

As for fixing your errors, do you have a pencil icon to the bottom left of your finished post? Once you hit submit? Mouse over that pencil and it will say "Edit". Click on the pencil and you should be able to edit your post. There's a time limit, I believe, so if you don't do it within a certain amount of time, you lose the ability.

I am glad they worked really well on someone's shoulder.  I have been having that problem for a couple of months now.  I have been taking the over the counter anti-inflammatories which have helped.  The next step is the shots.  It's supposed to be all soft tissue inflammation so if the inflammation can be taken care of then it's 'healed'/

Yes,; I had a ganglion cyst on the ball of my left foot. Before sending me for surgery the doctor tried numbing by putting shots in my big toe, then withdrawing fluid. Afterwards he would put a cortisone shot in my big toe. That is the one that hurt. The medicine was really thick and so it hurt going into my toe. I cried when the doctor did it. I had several before finally surgery.

That splint sounds a lot like the one I am wearing during the night.  The splint I wear during the day and wearing it under my shoe if I'm going out is a lot smaller, he just game me that yesterday.  My foot right now isn't as painful as it was so I'm hoping the cortisone shot did help.

Since I'm a diabetic, the Dr. really does not want to do surgery unless it is absolutely a last resort.

I too was taking those type of pills but they didn't work much.  When I went yesterday the Dr. said the shot would be the way to go so this time I didn't hesitate.  I may need another but now I'm not as afraid.
