Well, I went to the appointment today and the doctor and everyone else are really nice. They won't know the stage until after the surgery though. The doctor is recommending a lumpectomy with removal of some of my lymph nodes since the cancerous tumor is only 2 cm. They will refer me to a surgeon at the county hospital since I don't have private insurance. Afterwords, I will have both radiation and chemo. I just have to wait for my surgical consultation and surgery. I was hoping to get the surgery out of the way before the end of the year, but it not looking to promising.

You're Dr. seems to be doing everything in small stages which is the right way to go.  Nothing drastic right off the bat.  I wish you all good luck.

Well, I go to the surgical consultation on Thurs 12/13.  I got some running around to do next week so I can get the films from my ultrasound and mammogram to take to my appointment.

They always try to preserve the breast if they can.

Good luck with the surgery and treatment.  If you have any questions about the radiation portion, send me a PM. I work with a radiation oncologist in his breast clinic.

Also, if you like, I can send you out some printed information by snail mail or email.
