...do you prefer gift bags or wrapping paper?

I do both, depending on what the gift is and the recipient.

I use both as it really depends on the gift. Plus I think it's fun to rip through paper to get at the gift, so I like to wrap gifts that are for children.

Bags as I do not have patience to attempt to wrap anything as it takes me awhile to get it to my standards...

I use both; but I love to really "do up" some paper wrapped gifts.  I used to get all into ribbons and bows and things; but I can't with my 2 anymore.  Plus I don't have the time I used to!  I did gift bags for my smallest niece and nephews this year...it's just easier for them.

If the gift is too hard to wrap,a bag.

Cats love those bags. I cut the handles off first before I give them to the cats.

For people I hang them up so the cats don't get in them.

Christmas.. I wrap and rewrap so many times

Paper, usually. Sometimes I resort to gift bags if it's something that's hard to wrap, or that you wouldn't want to wrap (like food) or if I just can't find any decent wrapping paper; back before we moved, the stores in our area had the tiniest selection of wrapping paper ever, so we used bags more frequently. But as a kid I always thought gift bags were like "cheating" for adults who didn't like having to wrap things, lol. So I keep that in mind if I'm shopping for children. :p

If I'm not going to wrap something up in paper, I'd much rather just hand the person their gift unwrapped than put it into a frilly little bag. When I see something is wrapped, it is clear that the person cared enough to do so. I see bags as a way of avoiding work and effort by just throwing something into a bag with a piece of tissue paper to be done with it.

Paper usually. I like to "do it all up" too!  It just makes it more special to me to take the time to do it, even though it will be destroyed in a short time. If it's something hard to wrap, I go w/ a bag, but will try to tie the handles together w/ pretty ribbon anyway.

I can't stand wrapping gifts. I much prefer a gift bag where I can shove some tissue paper inside and call it a day. Unfortunately gift bags can be expensive.  So this year I used wrapping paper that I've had in my gift wrap storage bin.  Unfortunately I find wrapping things to be very tedius, so the cutting is jagged and crooked, and the finished gift is far from looking professionally wrapped.

We use both. For each other, we will always wrap. For the grandchildren, we always wrap; part of the fun with the kids is watching them tear into the wrapping paper. For gift cards and such, we'll put them in a pretty bag with a ribbon tying the handles shut.

Rick is a wonderful gift wrapper! Honestly, that man can line up the wrapping paper to the point where you don't know where the edges are. He's amazing. While he does the wrapper, I make and attach the bows. I love to make bows. So it all works out.

:yeah: :lol3:

Fortunately I don't have to wrap any more. With the arthritis in my hands it is a real hardship. All the kids I give gifts to are teenagers now and they want cash or gift cards. I don't exchange gifts with any adults, I put a stop to that a while back.

I love to use gift bags, but I do wrap some items in paper.  I would love to try Jack Osbourne's way of wrapping in tin foil...just haven't gotten around to it yet.

I use gift boxes or bags usually. Unless it's for my Grandson....he LOVES to unwrap presents.

I usually have four-legged help with the wrapping, pretty much the reason I switched to boxes and bags. Thai has a tape and glue fetish which makes wrapping a challenge. Lol! If I shut them out of the room, the howling and scratching at the door drive me nuts. Spoiled! Sometimes I can distract them with a rolled up ball of paper each, or a bow, but they really do like to get in the middle of it all.
