Good morning and Happy First Friday in December!

We're not celebrating Christmas on Christmas Day since our kids will spend that day with DIL's family. I think they may be coming up on the 23rd, Sunday.......which is also our granddaughter Sarah's 4th birthday! So either way, we will have a good day, whether we celebrate a birthday AND Christmas or whatever we do. It's hard when a birthday falls so closely to Christmas....we always try to have a special birthday time for Sarah, too.

Anyway, I ordered our crown roast of pork yesterday for our dinner, for that Sunday. And instead of a big dinner on Christmas Day, I will do a brunch for everybody. That will work out well, too; people won't go away hungry.

So.....my question for you today is: What is the entree you will be serving for your Christmas dinner?? We will be having our crown roast of pork stuffed with cornbread, sausage, and lots of dried cranberries and toasted pecans. I ordered a 16-rib roast so there will be plenty for everybody. There will be 12 of us for dinner on the 23rd.

I'm happy to say I won't be cooking the entree. :lol3: We go to my brother's house on Christmas. Some years we have turkey and some years a clam boil. I doubt they have decided yet. :lol3: they wait until the last minute sometimes. I'll check in with my SIL next week to see what she would like me to bring. Chocolate chip cookies are always a must and sometimes when it is a clam boil I've brought a ham for the non-seafood eaters.

I haven't really decided yet. The in-laws are coming here Christmas Eve, and I'm thinking of making something non-traditional like pizza (we had lasagna last year). DH has to work Christmas Day, so maybe I'll roast a small turkey just for the two of us.

Since l get a Christmas turkey from work every year, l'll be making it, if only to make room in my freezer for raw cat food!

We don't eat a lot of turkey through the year, so it's a Christmas treat for us.

For veg, l'll do boiled and roasted potatoes, carrots and turnip, parsnips (LOOOOVE parsnips), brussels sprouts, and cauliflower.

Tons of gravy and stuffing.

I have no idea!  We decided on Thanksgiving day that I would be hosting; which I'm fine with.  I'm just not sure what I want to cook.  Mom suggested a roast but that just doesn't sound appetizing to me. I'd prefer a ham so thats probably what I will end up with!

Your Granddaughter is almost exactly one year younger than my nephew!  We have several holiday babies in my family.  I feel so bad having everything jumbled up with the holidays.  DD is in early January and thats bad enough!  Last year we had her party a few weeks after her actual birthday.  It gave everyone, including our guests, a chance to recoup!

Well, after all of the cooking done on Thanksgiving, in which my mom did the most of it, as it was at my parents house. On Thanksgiving my mom said,"I am not turning around & doing all of this again in just a few weeks!"  SO, we are having Lasagna. My dad is Italian anyway, so it fits! We did that a couple of years ago & it was nice. Salad, Lasagna, fresh bread, & of course some vino!  We haven't decided on what desert will be yet, although I am partial to anything chocolate!!

Going to our nephew's for Christmas so I have no idea what he'll be serving. He's a great Italian cook so I'm guessing there'll be some good pasta, but whatever he makes is great!
Pam, your crown pork roast sounds wonderful. Save us some!!

Hmmmm.....I have a feeling I'm going to be the only one saying this:

We're having lutefisk. I'm Norwegian American, born and raised in Minnesota, and my Norwegian grandmother always served lutefisk for Christmas Eve dinner, and my Mom has carried on the tradition. My brother and his wife and my nieces come over and we have a feast of lutefisk, barbecued spare ribs and meatballs. Yum! :D

Ribeye elk steak is the plan. And shrimp. I am not sure what sides we will have; it's a bit away to know that yet.
