Seems an odd thing to do, join a cat based forum just after you cat dies, but there you go. I'm still reeling in shock from loosing my cat. She might have been 20 1/2 years old, but tuesday morning she was right as rain, or so it appeared... She'd never been ill all her life and although she was becoming very dottery on her legs, she still enjoyed life. On tuesday night I had to have her put down. She had a very large tumor in her bladder that we didn't know about that had burst, and the vet didn't think there was much chance of been able to do much about it. Due to her age he said in all fairness the kindest thing to do was to put her asleap. Now my house feels very cold and empty and I'm very sad. Not looking fowards to Christmas at all this year.

I am so sorry you lost your little friend.  Be thankful she lived so long and enjoyed life to the very end.  Not many of us can say that.

Her age is an indication of the love and care she received throughout her life. So many kitties do not have that chance.  She did and she knew she was a lucky girl to have you.

God bless and rest in peace, Spuddy.  May you be running and jumping and rolling in the sunshine at the Bridge.  Do not cry because it is over....smile because it was.

I'm very sorry for your loss. Twenty-plus is a venerable age for a cat and a clear indication of the love and care she got. RIP, Spuddy.

Thanks for the replies. I think she lived so long because she spent most of it asleep. Never known such a lazy cat. I sorted out all the pictures I have of her and most are her lying fast asleep upsidedown on the bed. She really did live the life of Riley and never suffered a debilitating illness. Trouble is the longer you have a cat, the more it hurts when they go.

That's an absolutely amazing lifespan! And it seems to me that joining the cat site was a very sensible thing to do.

Thankyou for all your kind words. It does help on the journey forwards. I will never forget my Spuddy, but hopefully soon I'll remember just the good times.
