CRAZY CAT AT MY DOOR!!! lol

WHY, WHY, WHY???? Why does my cat wait until i need to sleep to want my attention??? i spent all day in the living room studying and taking breaks to give her attention (which she didnt want as she needed her beauty sleep). Then when I am about to go to sleep (i need to wake up early for a 8am test) she wants to play!



I should have flung her out a window! But what did i do?.......

I got up and spent 20 mins running around with her with her pink feather.

lol i still love my precious kitty though.  i hope this makes you guys smile, because even though i needed to go to sleep, i couldnt help smiling because i know my cat loves me.

p.s. before i recorded this video she spent a whole minute MREOWING. lol

Cats are nocturnal.  It is normal for her to sleep all day and play all night.  After a while, you will get used to it.  Or at least that is what I tell people.  Then I run away. RUN AWAY! RUN AWAY!

yes, there are times i want to RUN! lol i try to play with her during the day, but regardless, at night shes always hyper. i always do a 20-30 minute play time with her before i go to sleep. but i was tired yesterday, thats probably why she was knocking. she was wondering why i wasnt playing with her. lol

When I got Spencer and Katie, they were about 12 weeks old and a bundle of energy.  They jumped and pounced all over me at night, even Abby was getting ticked off with them because she is on my sleep schedule.

After 2 nights of that, I put a stop to it.  I commanded their attention all day. And I mean all day!  Whenever I didn't see them for more than 15 minutes, I would go and find them and wake them up and play with them.  By the end of the evening when I was ready for bed, those poor kittens looked like they had been through the mill. Their little eyes were puffy and they looked so tired that they would almost fall over when sitting.

But the slept! And now they sleep all night long until at least 6 am.  Spencer still tries to play with me in the middle of the night sometimes but he doesn't succeed. When I hear him bring me his rattle toy, I pretend I don't hear him and ignore him.  I do wake up with a few toys in my bed each morning, but I never give into his behaviour.  My bed is for sleeping, and they all know it.  It's very rare that I entertain them with playtime when I'm in bed. I will indulge brushing and cuddles, but not playing.

Not to be nitpicky but cats are crepuscular, meaning they are more active at dawn and dusk. It just so happens that those are the times we are going to sleep and waking up, so we assume they have been active all night.

As usual, you are completely correct.  I just couldn't remember the proper term for them. Mine like to play most of the day on the back porch and then play around the bed till about 11pm. Not constantly, just enough that it seems so.

i tried at least. lol i would go up to her and talk to her, and sing to her. and give her loving kisses... she would wash herself and go back to sleep! lol

I have had great success getting my kitties to sleep at night, or at least not bother me, by establishing a nighttime routine.  We play for about 20-30 mins before bedtime, then I feed them a bit of a snack.  Then, we have groom time, and then we go to sleep.  Works like a charm once you establish the routine.  My kitties know the routine and remind me of it when I veer from it.

ive been trying to do a routine. i think thats why she was upset that night. i had to go to sleep early for an exam, so i didnt do her 20-30 minute play time that i do with her before i go to sleep. i think she was just calling me to remind me to play with her. lol
