And have no idea where to go from here.
We have four cats and are done with adopting but we just ran into a stray tonight while buying gas. I called him, he came straight to me, I picked him right up and he and purred and kneaded in my arms the entire way home. He's dirty and not neutered and eats like he hasn't had a good meal in a while so I'm pretty sure he doesn't belong to anyone - although he's certainly not feral. He's currently in the garage until I can get him to the vet, hopefully tomorrow. Seriously, he's the sweetest cat I've ever met, which isn't actually that hard when you look at my hellions.
But we can't keep him. We're of course willing to keep him until we can find him a home, but how do I go about doing that? I'm usually the one looking for a cat to adopt, and have no idea how to do it from the other side. I've honestly been very discouraged about this area of the country with regards to pets - vets routinely declaw, owners don't spay/neuter, and many cats are outdoor only. I'm afraid of giving this poor guy to someone who will mistreat him. Help!
