Sorry for one question right after the other! Being a new cat owner, I get a little confused and I also like to have multiple opinions to my problems. Anyhow, I have to questions for you today~

The first is that my cat, Freya, bites me constantly when playing. She will be a year in May and my friends say its a kitten thing, but I really think she's getting to old. And she hurts when she bites! I make loud noises to scare her and push her away to signify that I'm hurting and that play time is over. I also spray her with water if she's particularly bad, but this doesn't seem to deter her. Is there any reason why she bites me and how can I stop this?

My second question is about crying. Apparently, whenever I leave my house to go spend the night with my friends, Freya will sit outside my room and cry even though she knows I'm not there. In fact, she does this when I'm home! She sits outside my door and cries. I'll open it to see what she wants, but she just sits there and stares at me. I always keep my door opened a crack so she can get it, so it's not like she's locked out... She'll sit outside my door and cry and meow no matter how many times I call for her until finally she comes into my room. Is there any reason for this?

Hi, how do you play with her....maybe try using a wand toy instead means you keep you hands free.....you can also try redirecting when she bites try distracting by throwing her another toy.

the crying is something both my cat and my mams cat does, mine wont settle till hes had a cuddle and I put him into bed and put his blanket on him, my mams cat cries if anyone leaves the room i think he must think hes missing out on something, I dont have a cure for that I am afraid

The biting is a kitten thing; but it's not cute for long!  I would redirect her to another toy when she starts or just get up and ignore her as soon as she bites...basically saying "playtime is over!"  Is she wrestling when she bites?  Like where she puts her paws around your arm?  Maybe something large enough for her to bite and kick...like a Kickeroo.  I've heard some cats love those.

I'm not sure what to do about the meowing.  Maybe while you are gone you could leave a t-shirt you've worn or slept in either in her bed or in a favorite spot...maybe even on the floor just inside your door.  Your scent may be calming to her.  We do this for our cats when we travel.  When you are home try leaving the door open enough for her to come through more easily.  Then every week close it just a little more; till she figures out how to push herself inside.

Will do! She LOVES rolling on her back and wrapping her paws around my arm or foot and sinking her teeth in so I'll try to get one of those toys for her. :) thank you all very much for the advice. We try the wands but she loses interest in her toys pretty fast, even tho we put a few out then hide some and rotate it. She's just very energetic but the biting hurts! Mom wants to get my kitty declawed but I'm against declawing and I've heard the biting only gets worse after being declawed. Definitely looking into soft paws/claw caps tho.
