Not your cat's coat, yours, what does your winter coat look like? What is the fabric and color? Do you live in a cold climate where you have more than one, or is it warm and mainly jacket weather where you are?

I have a long, ankle-length black wool coat with a hood - for snow - that I call my Boston coat (bought when we lived there). It's packed away and never used here.

We have rainy winters with one or two snows that stay on the ground, so I have a long waterproof coat with a hood that keeps me dry from my head to my ankles during our rainy Pacific storms (sometimes with hurricane-force winds). It's only good for during the day, though, black is terrible to wear at night here with the wind and rain - pedestrians get hit by cars all the time.

I've also got a short red wool coat that's more practical for running errands when it's really chilly, and a short purple rain jacket for going places in the rain.

When I lived in Texas I had one vintage wool swing coat that I loved and was always so happy for the few days in the winter when it was cold enough to wear it.

It can get pretty chilly here. I have a really light purple Columbia jacket with navy blue lining. I usually wear a warm sweater out, even in the snow though, so it doesn't get much use.

I had a really, really nice baby blue and white jacket that I bought a few years back...but I foolishly left it next to my hamster's cage and he chewed a massive hole in it.

It can get really cold here. Both my down coats are black and hooded. One is hip length, while the other goes down to just above my ankles. I have a couple of fleece jackets for milder days.

I have a charcoal grey below-the-knee length wool coat that I wear to work on dressier days and that I wear if we're going some place that's fairly nice. A blue heavy-duty Columbia jacket that I wear for walking; I can wear that on even the coldest days and not be cold on my walks. A blue and brown longer jacket (from JCP) that I'll wear to work on Fridays. And a light brown suede blazer-type jacket that I can wear on warm winter days.

Need a new one, the old one is just a tad too big now but it's going to be another Lakin McKey rider's coat with shoulder pleats for ease of movement. It's brushed canvas (and needs to be brushed to remove cat hair) so is windproof and good to 40 below. Also have a couple of fleece jackets in different weights.....trying to decide which one to wear today, weather liar says it's going to +5°C today, so maybe the lighter one. Our winter temps in Saskatchewan fluctuate almost as wildly as they do next door in Alberta - was -12°C late yesterday with a brutal windchill, like -29 and today a whole lot warmer.

It was 102 degrees F here yesterday, and not much cooler today, so my winter coat is well and truly packed away.

I just have a serviceable very warm coat for my occaisional visits south.

LOL, I have more coats than I know what to do with. One for every temp and situation. The one I wear most is a red down parka, not too puffy. For really cold days I have a puffier coat :D.

I have a couple of light jackets that I wear when it's not freezing out, also have a Cardinal baseball jacket which is kind of lightweight also.  When it's really cold, I have a three quarter black jacket/coat which keeps me warm enough.  It also reverses to red which I never use.

Don't need winter coats here in SW Fl, but I do have a couple of light weight jackets and sweaters for our "cold" weather -- which gets down to around 40 or so for a few days in the year.

I just got a new winter coat for the first time in YEARS on black Friday.  It's a black and gray wool coat with a hood.  It's sort of a "tweed" pattern to it..not sure how to describe it.  It's supposedly a mid-weight jacket but it feels awfully cozy to me!

I hate coats so I usually just have a tshirt on and a hoodie over.  if it is really cold i put on a long sleeve shirt.  My main go to hoodie is black.

l also hate jackets, hats, gloves etc - anything restrictive and muffling.

At the temperature it is now, between the plus side and minus 10, l'll just wear a hoodie and Columbia vest.

When it gets cold, l wear a light Helly Hansen off-white ski jacket.

When it gets frigid, l drag out the black down-filled knee-length Helly Hansen coat. l'll wear gloves at that point too.

I have an Oscar Pied waist-length leather jacket with a zip-in fakefur lining, and a tan Mafia Don coat with a brown fakefur collar and lapels.

I have a black wool military-esque coat for work and a Men's Columbia multi-layer ski jacket for skiing or outdoor stuff. we tend to get pretty cold winters and a fair bit of snow here.

I have a heavy duty rain jacket, I got it off my dad who works on the railway and he would work night shift so needed a warm water proof, he had a couple so When I started walking to work a few years back he gave me one, its a bit big but its so warm, I even get to wear it in the summer here ;) England is great.

I also have a big thick, old Renault F1 racing fleece for when its cold and not raining
