I've never in my entire life been so excited about a movie opening! I've always just waited until the hype dies down, or the movie shows on a movie channel or regular TV.

But OMG! THE HOBBIT!!!!  It opens on December 14th!

I just bought advanced tickets for opening night!

I'm blowing off our Christmas party at work to go to this movie!

Anyone else excited about it?

DH mentioned it.  I am not a big movie person.  Especially when it actually requires you to go to the theater.  But because DH has had things so hectic lately I'm considering getting tickets for us to go.  He deserves a break.

Get your tickets now.  When I was ordering, a lot of the seats were sold already.

Love the Hobbit and LOTRs. I have collectors editions of both books and I've read a million times.  I just love those books.

I enjoyed the LOTRs movies....actually, I was amazed that they got as much as they did from the books. I won't see The Hobbit right away, but will wait a while. I am looking forward to it.

I was reading an article about the way The Hobbit was filmed......48 frames per second, instead of the usual 24 frames per second. (Or is that 48 frames per minute???) Anyway, the end result is a movie that is so clear that even the drops from the waterfall are crystal. The scenery just smacks you in the face. And the guy said that Gollum just looks amazing. He said that the scenery and such actually took away from the plot because he found himself checking things out and missing dialogue. So I'm really looking forward to seeing this movie.

Have been a long, long, long time Tolkien fan.

Did I mention that it is in 3D Imax!?

Wheeee!
That makes no difference to me.  I will not go to a theater, which means a 130 mile round trip, pay $11 for a ticket, just to hear kids screaming, cell phones going off and smell all the third-hand smoke on the parents.

I also see that quite a few people are complaining of nausea from the way it was filmed, and with my medical problems I would probably

If I had to travel 130 miles to go to a movie, I wouldn't either.

We actually have a movie theater here that adults only because they serve alcohol.  The tickets are about $17 and they serve you right in your very large, plush, leather seat, so you don't have to go to a concession stand for your beverages or snacks.

And I've found that most people are pretty good about turning off their cell phones in the theaters.  I've been to several movies this year and I can't recall a single time when I've heard a phone go off or a kid screaming. Of course I tend to go to later shows.  And I am not bothered by the smell of smoke because we tend to sit a bit away from the main crowd. In fact my friend and I don't even sit next to each other!  lol   We sit in the same row but allow 1 or 2 seats between us so that we can stretch out a bit!

And did you know that most of the seats allow you to raise up the side arms? I found that out a few movies ago. I'm heavy and I was always so squished. Now I raise one of the arms and feel much more comfy.

 This is the one movie in a long time that I'm actually looking forward to going to! I'd love to see it in Imax, that would be cool. Worth going out for instead of waiting for the DVD.
