Okay so here is the scenario. Today Smokie got out for a few minutes while I went to check the mail. Enter the neighbors very friendly and playful dog,who wanted to come up to play with Smokie. They sniffed each other and were ok then the hissing started, and the neighbor dog   swatted at smokie so I scooped Smokie up to take him inside and that is when he attacked me.. This is my forearm....

My thumb is one deep puncture wound, very sore and hard to bend it. I washed all with soap & water, then used Hibiclens and neosporin.

.........

Any other ideas?? And yea, he drewblood-- the thumb bled really bad

Ouch! Had similar wounds when I foolishly picked up a cat to stop an ongoing cat fight.

The wash and the creams seem good enough to me.
 Sending healing

Oooh! Ouchies. I stupidly picked up Scotty when he was freaked out over a dog, and I have a nice scar to prove it.

What I personally do is keep the sore open so it can drain out as needed.  I keep the scab off and it washed up.  Just got a good bite from a community cat few weeks ago and it is fine now.  got my pointer and wrist.  And then hung on for a bit!

Ouch!!

When DH was attacked by a dog at work it was still bleeding some the next morning and the doctor told him it was actually good because it kept flushing it out basically.  I would keep a really close eye on it though.  Cat's claws are different than a dog bite.

When we had Ella, a friend of ours brought a stay dog in from the rain. Very sweet and playful dog. I had picked up Ella so I could set her on her tower away from the dog. Not 3 second later, our friend'a kid chased the dog right at me. Ella freaked and I had deep scratches all across my hand and arm. Not fun. Soap and warm water, and everything was fine after a week or so.

It was a bite....... My thumb is doing a little better today just sore, but not red or swollen........ so probably no infection

My arm is fine, I think there may be a scar though...... the things we do to protect  our babies from danger :LOL

If you haven't had a tetanus shot in a while, you might need to get that.
