Over the river and through the woods...
So we're trying to get this room done before the holidays so we have a place to put our Christmas tree. I'm not sure it's going to happen though...

Today's question: Do you put up a tree? If so, is it real or artificial?

Ours is fake! It's a smaller tree so it's not a lot of hassle. We are putting it up this week.

We decorate three trees, all of them are artificial. This year we decorated the living room tree. We're still debating about putting up the Tacky White Tree (TWT) in the kitchen; we may put it up, but not put any decorations on it......I love that tree and I really missed it last year (we didn't put it up last year because of Tabby, the Terrible and Mollipop, the Menace. This year, we have Tabby, the Terrible and Muffin, the Muffinator, and Mollipop, the Menace). I usually decorate the TWT with blue glass balls and that's it. I don't really want to go out and buy a bunch of blue unbreakable ornaments right now as I just don't have the money.

We have a large tree for the bedroom that we put all of our Santa and reindeer ornaments. That tree is done in all red lights and it's really pretty. Amber likes to sleep in that tree. We didn't put it up this year, again, largely because of Molli, Tabby, and Muffin......it's just not safe.

So as of right now, it's just the living room tree.

I have an artificial tree that I put up; it's 7.5". I also like to buy one of those tiny little Norfolk Island Pines to put out as well, because they remind me of my Nannie. (She used to put one out every year when she was still alive :heart3: )

We used to put up real trees until they just started bothering my allergies too much, so now it is an artificial tree.

When we were first married, we always did real trees. But our son developed asthma and the real tree would set it off....he would come down with a bad asthma attack. Even though we all wanted to keep using a real tree, it wasn't worth the trouble with his asthma and we went to artificial trees soon after he was born. (But even the artificial tree would set off an attack.....we think it was because the tree was stored in its box in the basement. We moved the tree to two tree bags and that seemed to help his asthma.)

Honestly, it was a miracle that we were even able to have one cat in the house, let alone six of them.

We used to always get a real tree in a pot, use it for a couple of years, then plant it. We got too many and Jamie wouldn't leave the trees alone, so we got an artificial one a couple of years ago. He still doesn't leave it alone, but he's smart enough not to climb it.

We do an artificial tree in the living room. I sold my huge tree and am using a 6.5 ft. tree. I can put it together myself and stand on the floor to decorate it all.

Right here! :)
We have also been trying to finish our living room, so that we can get into the Christmas gear and decorate in there.  We have painted the walls and ceiling and have been shuffeling furniture around. We are probably taking the sofa table out, as it is rather big, and putting another small in its place, that we had by the side of the sofa and instead put a chester drawer in that corner beside the sofa and use the corner the chester drawer was for our kids, for toys, so they have a better place for the toys and for  play (we only have one  bedroom, so we  are 4 in a rather small bedroom, so not  a lot of place for toys there, so most of the toys are in the living room, but kind of "in the way"). We are not going to finish the toy/children corner  untill after Christmas, as we will use the corner for the Christmas tree this year. That way there will be a lot more space in the living room over Christmas. It has been rather crowded with the Christmas tree and the big sofa table.  :)  We are also taking out a huge TV closet that we had our TV in, and all the "things" like dvd player and such stuff as well as movies and such.  Our TV died a few months ago, so we´ll have to get a flat screen TV, and that won't fit it the closet.  In  that space we are hoping to find a good used piano to replace our electric piano and where that pinao is now, we will put the new TV  on the wall. So after all the changes the living room will seem to have more space, allthough it's not that big.   (Was  this complicated at all? :D )

We always have a real tree that we go and choose ourselves in a little forest and chop it down ourselves.  Apart from that beeing so much fun, that way we can choose a beautiful tree, that  is tall but also rather slim, as don't have a space for a tree that takes a lot of space.
