You know that string that the tree gets tied onto your car with? She stole a piece and ate it! I took Seffie to the emergency vet and they induced vomitting, but no string. The vet sent us home and said that cats usually pass them just fine, but to watch for lethargy and excess vomitting and other strange things. He said it should come out within five days, but I'm so very worried about her! She's playful and acting, eating and drinking just fine right now.

I caught her just as she swallowed it and I could feel it in the back of her throat, but she crunched down on my fingers so hard I couldn't get it. I feel like the worst cat mom ever. :-(

Well, these things DO happen, and when they do, we all worry ourselves sick over them, until they, hopefully
  pass out the back end
.  Guess you'll be on poop patrol for a few days now, and am really, really, really keeping my fingers crossed that you find that string in there.

Do keep us posted.

BTW, if you were the worse cat mom ever, you wouldn't be worried about your sweet Seffie

If you see this string being passed by your cat do NOT take hold and pull on it. That could damage some of the cats insides. I would be watching all the poop to see if it passes. If not the vet can probably do an x-ray or scan of some kind to see where it is.

Thanks for replying!

I'm still worried and last night she growled at me when I petted her stomach, so I took her back in and they did an xray. It showed that her intestines were fine and she probably growled because I'm overdoing it with the petting and following her around; she wasn't in pain.

The vet said since Seffie is acting, eating, drinking, pooping and peeing 100% normally, just to keep watching her. The vet said that I'll notice if something's wrong and she was glad I brought her in to see how she was.

I sifted through her second poop after she'd eaten the string just this morning and no string yet. The original vet told me it may take up to 5 days to go through. The second vet said that there's a good chance it will go through all right since she's doing everything just fine.

Regardless, I'm still outrageously worried. Any advice, thoughts, prayers, and/or good vibes are most certainly needed, welcome and most appreciated.

Thank you.

No advice, other than to just try to remain calm (yeah, right), and check her poop.
