omg i cannot believe people actually care about this as much as i do. i live on airport road near the lvia its the airport for allentown and surrounding area. i live in my past husbands home that his father and grandfather have built but i am trying my darndest to keep it but it looks so grim for the future and me keeping my husbands home that has been in this family since 1950. anyway i have 2 alaskan malamutes brother and sister ages 10 and 8 and they are super spoiled. i have been taking care of a few feral cats behind my home and i actually converted my smaller shed into a cat shelter for 5 feral cats at present-the original one female that was not spayed is the mother of the one female and one male in which i have pictures, the male from the original mother is a beautiful red male w/ nice long thick hair but not very long  and he has the most emerald awesome green eyes i have ever seen-now the sister to him and the only female that the original mother has had three babies about 6 months ago and she was only about 7 months old "aweful"-now i have been trying to keep those three close to my home feeding and giving them the best shelter i know how and what i can only afford -i am on social security disability since my husband dies 2 years ago because i lost my leg back in 1988 because of a drunk driver who had no insurance and no license -unfortunately for me. but the three babies from the 7 month old momma are also now about 5 months old and sadly two of the three i am sure are females which is not good because soon they are gonna be getting babies-in the mean time i noticed that the mother of these three had been pregnant again about 4-5 weeks ago i am sure she gave birth again and it is so cold and getting colder and colder but i have been trying to see where the babies are since i live out of the city but there is nowhere for her to keep the babies and the youngsters now warm and safe. i am doing all i can. i am feeding these feral cats for several months now but i am hoping i can have some help to catch and spay the females at least but i have no money extra. i have a 800.00$ a month mortgage and i live on $1400.00 a month and i have heat and utlities i must pay but i must help these poor cats. its not there fault. but as long as i live here i will do my best to help them but i would really like to possibly have the girls spayed so we have no more homeless kitties. i have no license or no car - i cannot afford any- i live alone and really would like some advice - i have been trying to get the younger ones to get to know me and trust me -but the neighbor has a nasty pit/lab mix he has chase the cats to try and get rid of them- and the original mother from years ago was his to begin with he had a junk yard and wanted a rat cat but that would have been good if he would have spayed the poor old girl. i had only one female spayed cat and declawed she was an indoor cat and my husband and i found her at our old residence and kept her and we had her for 22 years she died of old age about 4 years ago and it broke my heart. i still have her ashes and death certificate from my vet. my vet could not believe how long she lived but she did have a great long safe life. i shall and do and will take care of any critters that come around my home as long as i can. the girls (my neighbors acroos the street) even help and sometimes buy a large bag of dry cat food to help me out. i am so grateful- i am only 55 and feel like the crazy old cat lady-right- thank you for all this .....

There are low-cost spay/neuter clinics in some areas. The larger the city, the more likely there will be one. Some of them may have transportation, or do you think the neighbor girls could help you get them there? Anyway, if you can give your general location maybe someone can dig up a low-cost place near you. If you really don't want to give even your general location, grab the phone book and call every shelter/rescue/etc. and ask about the options in your area. You're absolutely correct that the females MUST be spayed soon or there will be hundreds of kitties to care for :(.

Hi Debbie, I think it's okay to say "uncle" that a problem is just too darn big to handle alone.   It sounds like you've got a situation that would be tough for just about anybody!   I'd encourage you to use your internet access to find local rescue groups and tell them of your situation and see if anyone is willing to get involved and help.   One way to find the names of groups in your area is to go here http://www.petfinder.com/index.html and put in your zip code and search for adoptable cats.   You will see on the far right next to each entry the name of the group putting the cat up for adoption - this will reveal to you big and little groups in your area doing cat rescue.  Another more direct way is look on the left hand side of the main page - there's a spot to look for "animal welfare groups".   Most all won't be feral rescue, but it you still might get connected with some people who can help.   For perspective, I am completely overwhelmed right now trying to figure out what to do with one feral cat.  Just one!   So I encourage you, get some people on board to help you out - there are others who love cats out there, you've just got to find them!
