I have never in all of my kittens rescued had this issue before, 2 siblings, here since 1 day old, now are 3 months old and need to be put up for adoption, but they have ugly poop, stinky, greenish brown and muddy.

Always have really. I think Mom did too, a feral girl.

Had a fecal float done and they said nothing, no parasites/bacteria/worms, nada.

So now what? I couldn't wait to get the results so I could get them well once and for all, feeling quite burnt out from the huge kitten season and already getting started on the winter months of helping ferals, now they are overlapping.

I am lost here, what do I do?

Fortiflora?

Hmm. My first response would be to say that maybe their gut flora just isn't up to par with what they're eating. What are you feeding them? I would try a probiotic in any case.

They are still eating Babycat, which they were weaned on. I tried to graduate them to Natural Balance but it turned into more than just mud...it was a poop-fest. Awful, so they're on Babycat. I have NEVER had this happen without a reason, especially on Babycat. I swear by the stuff for babies.

How would their gut flora be out of whack from the beginning though? I suppose, just never dealt with that before. Thx!

I don't doubt that it is inherited from the parent(s). One of my old girl resues had kittens that inherited their Mom's runny poop. Funny thing that after 12 years, something changed and now Mom has 'normal' poop. It probably was her diet but to this day, I'm not sure. No complaints though.

Try a little yogurt.

Do a test... Give them plain, cooked chicken breast for a few days and see what happens. Just lightly boil the chicken, and feed the pieces to them. It is not balanced, but it is not a problem to feed it for a little while and it will tell you pretty quickly if this is a diet related issue. :vibes:

There are many things that won't show up in a fecal float. A sample sent out to a lab for a complete culture may need to be done to test for the other things, coccidia, giardia....trichomonas.... It's expensive, but thorough.
