I am thinking about moving  a Feral cat and her kittens with me.First of all it's not a Feral fully as it allows me to pet and feed her.She sits on my lap and sleeps near me and meows loudly when she wants to go out or come inside my apartment.I have been feeding her for the past 6 months and when she had litter outside my apartment ,she allowed me to move her kittens into my apartment. The kittens are now nearly 45 days old.

She used to come and go outside of my apartment very often. And she is very much used to the environment.I lived on 2nd floor and for the first few days I used to take her and come inside my apartment so that it knows the way to my apartment. After some weeks it started coming on it's own to my apartment on the second floor by climbing the stairs (It came  only to sleep and have some pet food) And also it kills birds, insects and lizards.Even if I am out of station she knows how to feed herself. It's used to the environment as it has been around there for about 7 months (Don't know how much old she is)

Unfortunately I would be moving to a new location in few days time and I don't know whether it will adapt to the new location as it is much different from the current environment she lives in and I am afraid she may get easily lost

She might have good access to food as there is lot of insects, birds and lizards for her to eat and also others would also occasionally feed her .If I move along with her I am afraid that her freedom might be curbed and also it doesn't depend not only on me for her food.Since I provide cat food, she is more fond of me than others.

What country are you in? The new place, is it the same country or new?

Do you have access to a vet for spaying / neutering?

If you leave her, and just take with you the kittens (who are indoor  only so far, yes?)

it is very good if you do spay her before you leave.

So she wont have new litter every year. And as you live in a warm country - probably twice a year.

She is used to live homeless, so if spayed, she should manage OK.

If you want and can to take her with you - more work for you, of course. I think she should manage too!

Have her in some carrier during the transport..

Observe, here too you should spay her.

And preferably also her kittens, before you adopt them out.  (or make promise their new owners spay them - perhaps with your help).

Spaying/neutering is the standard advice in USA/Sweden, but I know in many countries they usually dont spay most cats.

Tx for caring!

Welcome ot our Forums!

Good luck!

I live in India and the place where I am moving is not more than 10 miles from the current location.

I have created a small box for kittens and placed them at a enclosure where they won't come into contact with humans (They were inside my apartment for about 30 days  but the place was getting too cramped for them so I kept a made small house like box for them and kept them at the roof of my apartment so that no one would come into contact with them and they are happy at that place and  also they have a huge area to play with)

I am thinking of taking kittens with me and spaying/neutering  them and then giving them for adoption, but whether it's not wrong to separate kittens from their mother?? and I am pretty much sure they don't have to worry about the food as I have never seen a hungry fragile kitten/cat around my place(There are lot of cats in my place)

I am ready to take the kittens with me but the problem is there would be no one in the new apartment to look after them once I leave for the office and I feel it would be some sort of a closed jail for them with little open space and also I would be out of station for 2 days in each month and I am afraid that they may try to get out of my new apartment..
