She talked to one of the caregivers this morning (the caregiver works at the same school as my sister). The caregiver took Tony home the weekend that Mom was admitted to the nursing home because she said she was so afraid that Kim was going to get it.....she knew that Kim had been eyeing Tony up and she knew she really wanted that cookie jar. So, she said, she just figured she'd take him home. And then she forgot about him. She had come to the funeral last Sunday and she was going to bring Tony with her, but then she was in a hurry and didn't pick him up that day. And then with the Thanksgiving holiday and all, it completely slipped her mind that she had him.

But this morning, they were at school and Evelyn gave Tony to my sister!
So my niece will get Tony after all! Like I said, he wasn't very valuable per se. But he had a lot of sentimental value to us. My sister called me right away because she knew I was going to call the Area Agency on Aging this morning.

Bless Evelyn's heart (she's the caregiver). Remember I had said that we trusted one of the caregivers implicitly? Well, Evelyn's the one I was talking about. We trusted her so much.....and we were right to do so. At this point, we would have never known that she even had it. She could have kept it and we'd have never known. And we'd have kept blaming Kim.

So, other than the money that Mom "loaned" to Kim, nothing is missing. Thank goodness.

So glad Tony is home again - where he belongs. It's a nice holiday story and renews your faith in human nature.

Well I'll be darned, there is some good people in this world. I'm really glad your niece will now have that sentimental piece of the past. Nice way to start the week with this good news for your family.

Yay! That's nice that the nurse took it so Kim wouldn't take it. Now I'm embarrassed but will ask anyway.. Who is Tony??

Tony is a Tony the Tiger Cookie jar.  A Family hand-me -down.  A sentimental thing I would think.

Thank you! I was about to post and ask who Tony was. I thought it was a cat at first, but then the more I read the less it sounded like a cat, but then I started to think it was a stuffed one.

Anyway, so glad that the cookie jar has been returned.
