Hello everyone,

I was wondering if anybody could help,

Our 2 1/2 year old cat, Neville died yesterday :( it has come as a massive shock as he was fit, healthy and active and didn't show any signs that this was going to happen.

We had just come home from a weekend away with our daughter also 2, Neville had been let in by the in-laws who fed him and said he was his usual self in the morning. When we arrived home he didn't greet us as usual and I found him asleep, on our bed, solid as a rock. He looked very peaceful but it was too late for us to help.

Is this common in young cats? He was neutered and up to date with vaccinations, in the past months he had also made a friend, they were in separable and played in our garden. I thought this was odd as they were both boys.

We opted to not get a test done to determine the death as my partner didn't like the idea of him being messed with. We are in absolute bits and heartbroken, our little girl keeps looking for him but she is too young for us to explain.

I am just seeking a little closure if anyone could help. There is also a picture of Neville as my profile picture. We miss him so much already :(

Thank you.

I am so sorry about little Neville.  I will tell you my story and it may help a bit.

I also had a 2 1/2 year old little girl, Beeshee Marie.  She was a beautiful black and white.  I have her mom and brother too.  One day, she went off her food, and two days later, we had to have her put down. She was in heart failure.  The vet was certain, in a cat that young, that it was hereditary.  Cats that young, who are fine one day, and gone the next, are most certain to have the bad luck of inheriting something from their parent. In our case, there would have been nothing we could have done. The problem was too severe...to quickly.

So please take some comfort in knowing it was probably nothing that could have been treated successfully.  Healthy young cats do not pass that quickly.

Neville passed in a peaceful place, where he had spent nights curled up with his family. If he had to go, that was the best place he could be.

God Bless Neville.  He had a wonderful family to grieve so for him.

I am so sorry for your loss. It is terrible to lose our fur baby at any time, but worse when it comes like this.

I am going to close this thread now. Please post your tribute and questions in our Crossing the Bridge Forum. When you do that, others can pay their condolences and try to help your find closure to losing your pet. Hugs.
