I seen were its not good to mix brands with other brands of wet or dry etc and i seen were its actually good to do different brands like mixing them together or one brand one day next day a different brand

I want to give my cats a variety of different brands and flavors since my cats get bored easily

When I fed dry food, I mixed several brands for my cats. For canned I go for as wide a variety as possible. For the dogs I don't mix their kibble but I do rotate. I think it's important to go for as wide a variety as your pet will tolerate.

It is a great idea to rotate brands of canned food (CAT food).  One reason is in case (heaven forbid) there is a recall of one brand, then you have something to fall back on.  Or if a brand changes something and your cats refuse it, or you don't like the ingredients anymore, or you can't find that brand anymore, etc.

Now, for dry, that's another story, because when you switch up dry, you run the risk of upsetting their stomachs.  If you could just feed canned, that would be optimal anyway, and forgo feeding dry at all.  But if you want to feed both, I would stick with one dry, or even a mixture of two, (after slowly introducing the 2nd dry), but I wouldn't continually change up the dry.

Now as far as dog food goes, are you asking for your dogs, or are you asking if it's ok to feed your cats dog food.  I would say the answer for feeding dogs would be the same as cats, however, I'm not a dog expert by any means.  However, I would say it is NOT OK to feed your cats dog food, unless it states right on the can that it is for both species.

My cats get a different flavor/brand of canned food at every meal. I started this when I got them as kittens. I probably use about 25 different kinds. They've never had any tummy issues. I think it's fine to mix dry too, just do it slowly if they are only used to one kind. I can't find one food I think is perfect, that's why I rotate.

Both canned and dry food are rotated here (several brands and flavors every week) with no trouble at all. When we had dogs they got different homemade food every day, with an occasional can of commercial food thrown in. Not only is the variety appreciated, it makes sense not to let a pet become fixated on a food that might not always be available.

Generally if you feed kibble it's best to transition the cat to a different kibble slowly, over the course of at least a week, preferably two weeks.  Wet food is no problem.  You can mix and match brands etc.  My cats mainly eat Nutro Max Cat and Nutro Natural Choice wet foods but I mix up different brands for changes in flavor and textures for them.

It is never okay to feed cats dog food but dogs can eat cat food. Cat food contains Taurine which is essential for their vision.
