Question of the Day - Saturday, November 24

Good morning

Well Black Friday was yesterday.  So..

Did you go shopping?  What did you buy?

There were a few things on sale here, but most of it wasn't really convincing enough.  But I did end up getting a new surround sound system.

I heard on the news that there were a few good sales in the city but the highway sucks, my yard is full of snow and I hate shopping.

Yup one and only store.  PETSMART!  Got a few dozen cases of wet food and some chew toys.  Mom went to kmart and sears.  Said she did real well.  Those stores are not for me on black friday!
 

Yes, I went to Petsmart and that was it.  They opened at 7 AM, I was over there around 7:30 and there was hardly anyone in the store.  They had a few good sales.

Didn't even leave the house on black Friday.

I went to Justice for Girls and bought my daughter tons of clothes.  Bath and Body Works was next door so I stopped in there. 
 

Nope.

By me Petsmart has told me they are pretty dead till after the main sales are over at the big box stores.  I got there around 9 and was like any other day.
 

Well, I volunteered to work on Black Friday. I was working for Nutro in my regular Petsmart. It was busy but not jammed packed or crazy like some of the retailers are on that day. After work I did some shopping and took advantage of a lot of the 50% off sales going on that day. Loaded up on feline and canine Greenies! They were all good buys. I also bought a lot of cat and dog toys. It was a pretty fun day all around. People were all in a good mood and fun to deal with.

I went shopping at the very end of the day.  And only because I was really really in need of a winter jacket for myself.  I've been wearing a maternity coat the last several years and I was only pregnant for 2 of those winters.    It wasn't the warmest coat; but I also just didn't want to spend the money on myself.    But Mama is warm and wearing regular people clothing now! 

Rick wanted a surround sound system for Christmas for his tv in the living room. I don't think that's going to happen since we did the kitchen. We've agreed that we are not buying much for each other this year.

No Black Friday shopping this year.....I mentioned in another post that I have the cold from Hades and no way did I want to get out of bed and attack other shoppers with my germs early on Friday morning. Or even late Thursday night.

We know what we're getting the grandchildren, though, as our DIL emailed us The List. They've recently moved into a new and larger home (with two kids and a dog who's as big as a small pony, they outgrew their old house!) and our grandson is turning his bedroom into a Lego Room. There are some items on the list that we can help with. And our granddaughter is really getting into cooking and baking....she has some kitchen-type things that she wants, along with some Leap Frog stuff. Not bad for an almost five-year old. I will say that she is her Grandma's little girl in the kitchen. They get Highlights magazine from us, too.

We're also getting them tickets to the Crayola Factory and to the Baltimore Aquarium.....with the understanding that they must go to those places with Grandpa and Grandma going along, too. Followed by dinner in a restaurant. Rick and I are looking forward to those visits.

Oh, and "their" goat. Every year, we buy them a goat with the Heifer Foundation.

The only thing I bought was an outfit for my daughter to wear for pictures we did yesterday and for Christmas. I wanted a dress, but apparently finding a dress in newborn size is really hard. I couldn't resist this one, it's too cute. Now I just have to find a little Santa hat to go with it.

I usually don't do the Black Friday thing for two reasons, the crazy crowds, not to mention the early hours, & usually don't have a lot of extra money. BUT, I had been looking for some brown boots

& Belk's had some on sale, regular $69.00 on sale for $19.99, so I stopped before work & got some!!  I was thrilled there were still some in my size!!
