My stubborn tortie has left me with 6 cans of different foods in the fridge. Any idea how long these should last before spoilage?

I think you actually can freeze it.  Never done this myself, but I think I have read where others have.....

No idea. But yeah, buy some ice cube trays, scoop out the food from the cans and put the food in the ice cube trays. Freeze them. Dump them in marked bags, so you know what's what (once they're frozen). Take them out as needed, and dethaw in a small baggie in a bowl of warm water. :)

I assume you cover the cans in the fridge. I'm not sure how long they last but I think I read only a couple of days before bacteria begins. LDG mentioned ice cube trays which is a great idea. I have a friend that uses Those really small disposable freezer/microwave safe containers. She'll freeze the food and then put it on defrost in the microwave. Personally I'd just thaw them in the sink with water but that's me.

I would not store the leftovers in the can, remove to a glass or plastic container in the fridge if you think they will eat within a 4-5 days, or freeze.

"People food" is not supposed to be stored in metal cans, so I assume pet food should not either.  Anyone else know if this is recommended?
