It's time to put our Christmas trees up! Rick is in the basement as I type, getting the Tacky White Tree (TWT) box and the living room tree bags.

Last year we didn't even bother with the TWT because of Tabby being so young and we knew she would be trouble. This year, we weren't going to bother with the TWT either because of Tabby and Muffin. Those two together are real terrors and I only have blue glass balls for that tree. Well, I was talking to dear Richard this morning and I said that I'd like to put the TWT in the kitchen anyway (it was Mom's favorite tree). But with no decorations other than the lights.....the tree has blue and white lights. He said it would look really silly with no decorations (and I know it will), but then he said we could do that. That way, they can't knock the balls to the kitchen floor and break them. And I won't have to worry about cut paws from broken glass.

So we're putting up the TWT in the kitchen and our regular tree in the living room. We haven't decided about the Santa tree in the bedroom yet, but I don't think we're going to do that one. At least not this week. Maybe we'll decide to do that one later on.

When are you doing your trees?

Today I think or at least this week sometime, I have all plastic or metal baubles for mine so nothing can be broken they do make fab toys though Nevermind haha but at least you can decorate without the horrible thought of the thin easily breakable ones hurting the kitties

But hey I think I light filled tree will be fab after all you get fibre optic ones :D

I only slightly love Christmas just a little bit a teeny tiny bit honest lol

So pics of the tree! :D

Oooh quick one of my fireplace

I'm not sure.... I need to get all the Fall decorations down first and that's a fairly big job. Then I normally decorate the outside first.

I"m actually about to go out and by a pre-lit tree. This will be the first tree I've put up since 1996! None of my 3 cats have ever seen a Christmas tree! So wish me luck with that one! I'm not too worried about Abby. She's  14 years. It's the 2 year old twins, especially Katie, that have me concerned.  I plan on putting the tree up and not decorating it for a week and see how they do with it. If they keep knocking it down, I'll simply leave it lit but not decorated.

Love the fireplace, AJ!

Rick usually decorates outside the Monday after Thanksgiving as he always has that day off work for the first day of deer season (it's Pennsylvania....that's what we do here). Today, the cabinet installers are coming to finish their job, so he won't be outside much, if at all, today. He said he'd try to get a few lights up this coming weekend because he knows that I love Christmas lights.

We usually decorate our stair railing. That's where we put all the Christmas stockings (ours and the cats') and then I wrap lights around the railings, followed by garland. However, last year, Mollipop chewed the garland completely apart in spots and we had to get rid of it. And I'm not buying new, just so she can chew that. We'll just hang the stockings on the railing and let it go at that, I guess.

Muffin was very intrigued by the new large green cat toy; she's never seen a Christmas tree either. She was napping on the kitchen table when we brought the tree pieces upstairs. She awakened and, immediately came over to the tree and started sniffing and chewing on the branches. That girl's not afraid of anything. More fun! Just when things started to calm down, now she has something else to attack!

This will be the last year for our living room tree. That tree is easily 30 years old and I wish we could still buy that brand (We keep thinking it was a Mountain King). It has held up well and we've certainly gotten the use out of it. This tree is a bit different as it hangs from a center pole in sheets; the individual branches don't screw into the center pole. Which made it nice because the cats can't come up into the tree. It's all hollow on the inside, so there's no way. And it was always so pretty. Alas, it stood the test of time, but it couldn't stand up against the cats. Tabby really did a number on it last year and this year, she was already trying to pull it apart as fast as we were trying to put it together. The other night, the poor tree was being attacked by Mollipop, Tabby and Muffin. No tree can stand a chance!

My brother and SIL brought a cat into their home a few months ago....Tigger is several years old (they think around 5 or so) and it's obvious that she used to have family at one time as she's very, very friendly. Well, in honor of Tigger, they are buying their first live Christmas tree ever. They want Tigger to be able to climb around inside the tree and have fun.

Could you buy blue unbreakable (plastic) ornaments? Home Depot may have them. That's where I bought my red, silve & white ones (for the same reason!). They look a lot like glass, too.

OT, but I want to let you know that I'm glad Tony the Tiger has returned, and nothing was taken!

We haven't had a tree for about 8-9 years because we never had the room at the apartment and wasn't interested before that. But since my diagnoses with breast cancer, I really wanted a tree. Since we have the room, I talked Mike into it. I went out and bought a small 5' tree and decorated it. The day after we put it up, our good friends, who are also our landlords, called and wanted to give us their old tree. This one is 7.5 ft tall! Well, I put that one up in the short one's place. It is so pretty! I will take some pictures and post them at a later date.
