Sounds like she is.

Please confine her to a room so she can relax and have the kittens. Stay with her to make sure nothing goes wrong and make sure after each kitten she delivers the afterbirth anything left inside will cause infection.

Aldo make sure she isn't actively pushing for more than two hours! If she pushes for more than two hours please take her to the vet because a kitten maybe stuck.

Her belly will get hard when she is contracting, you will know when she starts pushing it will be obvious. Please stay with her to make sure everything goes ok, generally they will have them about 30 mins to an hour apart, but can take up to 24 hours to have them all. I wouldn't worry if it's a few hours in-between kittens as long as she isn't distressed or pushing for 2 hours after she has some if she will let you touch her see if you can feelbanymore, nif you need to get some sleep, set an alarm for every hour and half to check on her to make sure she isn't pushing with nothing happening.

KlSylvester gave a good answer.  To summarize Watch out when she strains in wain longer time - be ready to contact and phone a vet, and if necessary rush her to the vet.

But if she is calm, happy licking and nursing her firstborn, long delays arent dangerous. Observe but dont panic.  I mean, sometimes it can go both hours and even days between the different kittens are born.

So when KlSylvester says "up to 24 hours" it is really too tight said, it CAN be even longer and everything is OK..

Contact your vet if unsure.

Ah, one tip.  A help by owner which is sometimes required is to cut off the umbilical cord.  Sear it with your nails.  Or use a BLUNT scissor. Dont use a sharp scissor.

Welcome to our Forums!

   Good luck!

Yes.  It will bleed if you use sharp sissors - cord sissors for humans are very blunt, the edges are rounded so they crush the cord.  When that happens the blood vessels in it contract and it hardly bleeds.

If you have to deal with a cord, break it as far away from the kitten as you can and be careful not to pull on the kitten's tummy as that can damage it.

Its just all depends.

I believe it can take up to 24 hour or more once she loses it. Sophia lost her mucus plug and kitten #1 was born about 30-45 mins after that.
