Hello -

I took my cat to the Vet today to get her butt shaved - she had a really bad case of "flaming asshole syndrome" as my Vet called it.  They put her under for about 5 minutes using a Sevoflurane mask so they could shave and clean the area.  She woke up and was really quiet on her way home.  Once I got her inside the house, she refused to come out of her carrier and continues to growl, hiss, make really weird noises when I look at her or walk by the carrier.

Does anyone know how long this will go on?  I checked some websites and it said behavioral changes are rare and should go away within a few days.  I am really worried about her because she has never done this before in her 4 years of life.  I called the vet and she mentioned that the drugs are probably still wearing off.

Any ideas or comforting thoughts will help!  Thanks!

I'm sorry no one every answered your question here.  I have no experience with the use of this "drug", but am wondering howo your furbaby is doing?  Has she gotten back to normal by now?  I sure hope so!

that everything is AOK by now, and that your (and your kitty) didn't have to go thru that for very long.

Yes, she is okay now...thank you for your concern.  I just threw a blanket over her cat carrier and left her alone.  It took about 4 hours for her to be normal again.  It was very scary!  And I probably overreacted just a little bit but I had never seen her react to medication like that before.  Thanks again!

No, no, no....not overreacting at all, IMHO.  anytime they do something like that I would be scared and wondering what's happening to my furbaby
.  I'm just glad she's ok now.

Great idea about covering her carrier with a blanket until she calmed down
