Recently we had one of our cats spayed. When she came back she didn't have an elizabethan collar, we asked the doctor and she said that if we noticed she was trying to rip off the stitches to get one. Well, she did in fact try to rip off her stitches and we went to the vet again, she told us she had opened her wound again and they would have to suture it and open it a little bit more so they could do it, because she had a lot of inflammation.

Once again she was stitched and we got her back, this time with an elizabethan collar. They gave us several antibiotics and antispetics and we gave them to her as specified. She was due for stitch removal in 8 days. At the seventh day, we took off her elizabethan collar to clean it up since she had puked in it. Not five minutes had passed and she was bleeding... she had opened up her wound again. She was going crazy so we had to call someone from the vet to help us transport her.

As soon as she got there, the doctors told us we hadn't been giving her the antiseptic/antibiotics and that her wound was as if she never had stitches to begin with. We left her there in the vet under intensive care. They stitched her up again, and then they told us she had rejected the stitches, by this time she had been like two days in the vet. Some days later they told us that she was better now but she was healing through granulation, without stitches and that they needed two people to take care of her wound. We left her there, and on our next visit there she was in a cage with a bandage on her torso, we spent some time with her trying to cheer her up and that was that. Coincidentially, another cat was there that day for the exact same issue: Stitched up twice, rejected the stitches. This seemed odd to us. But we left it in their hands. We just came back from another visit and this time she was there without a bandage, we were a bit excited honestly, but they told us they were just giving the wound some air. We asked to see the wound and it's a big hole. It seems even bigger than when she opened up herself the second time. And now we're really concerned.

Should we take our cat to another vet or is this somehow normal? What should we do?

If it were my cat I would go to another vet for a 2nd look and see what they think just to be safe. Hope your cat heals soon!

I agree - 2nd opinion if possible.  Sounds like she may have had a pretty good infection, possibly from the original surgery?

I hope the experts chime in as I've never heard of this severe of a complication from spaying, let alone twice...  I am no medical expert.
