Pate, morsels, chunks, shredded, slices.......what kind is the best for a kitty.

I mostely feed Pate but I'm think about trying other textures of food. 

Usually, in the cheaper brands of shredded, chunks, "filets", etc., the chunky bits are made of soy protein or wheat gluten :/. So with those brands it's best to stick to the paté types. The more expensive brands may have chunks of actual meat. . .you need to check the ingredients to be sure, though.

I always recommend just picking up a can or two of every brand/flavor in your price range with the ingredients you're OK with, and let the kitty decide!

I think pate style food is usually the best for cats. Most are higher in protein/fat and lower in carbs than the shreds, etc which is better for cats. The others, as Willowy pointed out, are made from carbs and the gravy usually adds even more carbs. I tried some chunks on my cats and found they usually lap up the gravy and leave quite a few chunks. Royal Canin is even reformulating some of their selections because of this problem.

morsels chunks shredded slices and bites or filits etc has wheat gluten in it that is no good for cats stick with the pate kind if you are low on money if you have enough money to get a no grain cat food or a organic or holistic that would be great to switch over
