Ok, so the other day I was giving my cat a little run around, when she was playing I noticed a small red thing on her leg (armpit-ish area), I immediately went in for a look and noticed it looked like a hole or a wound, I have no idea what it is, but I'm cleaning it daily with salty water and anaesthetic.

Hi and welcome to TCS! :wavey:
I hope we can help you with her problem.
I've posted those links as pictures below so people can see them better (lots of folks don't click links).

That looks like a quite the puncture wound. If it's infected she may need antibiotics to clear it up properly.

Looks like a bite wound that has become an abcess and burst.  I'd take her to the vets for a check.

I too recommend the vet. I don't like the way there is hair loss around the wound. Remember an abscess (if that's what it is) must be kept open to heal, if it closes up too quickly the infection will go into the blood stream. Which is also why antibiotics are prescribed for abscesses. I don't know if she has an abscess or not, but I wouldn't take a chance. If that is a rat bite...well, rat teeth are filthy. If it is a cat bite....do you know the health status of the other cat? Is she up to date on rabies vaccine?

Welcome to TCS, she is a beautiful girl.

I would definitely go to the vet too just to be safe.  Does it smell funny (cat infections have a very distinctive odor)?  This looks very similar to cat bites mine get when they get in fights.  It does look like it's started to heal though - usually when you see the hole like that, it's already started healing and it looks fairly clean, so I would imagine the wound itself is ok.  BUT, I agree with Otto - it could be from a rat or other cat who's not vaccinated, so better safe than sorry...

I would say a vet visit is in order. It's too big for most bug bites and looks like a puncture wound. I'd get to the vet before it gets infected.

my cat had the same looking thing and the vet didnt know what it was. She said it was not infected so not to worry.  It closed by itself.

Ok guys, an update.

The wound is healing (I think). It's gone red on the inside which, according to my nurse friend means its healing. It's staying open so it heals inside out and we're cleaning it daily. My cat is in no pain, there is no smell, no puss and no visible sign of infection. I don't think she caught any disease, because apparently they show drastic signs within the first few days.

Also, as a final note, I would just like to say, this community is one of the best ones I've found on the web in a long time, I hope to come here again.

I'm glad she's doing better. I know you will keep a sharp eye on it.
