We went to visit the in-laws in the Smokies a few weeks ago and I got some nice pictures of their view that I thought I'd share.

Most of our trip the mountains were in the clouds and it was dreary.  They ended up getting snow on the mountain tops.

Our last day there the sun finally came out right at sunset.  They have a great sun-room on the back of their house with a 2nd story deck too; so I spent some time shivering while I took these.  The mountain was glowing.

You can see some snow still up there:

I stopped taking pics for a few minutes to pet Gracie; MIL's cat, who had come up to me for some lovin.  When I stood up the mountain had turned purple:

Hope you enjoy!  I love the view there.  In the summer I used to sit in MIL's porch swing with a good book and their dogs for company.  One of my favorite places to be!

Great view - it must be nice waking up to it!
The rooms we stay in in the basement have no windows...but its a daylight basement and one of the first things I do is go into the family room and look out the door there.  I'm not trying to move to that area yet; but if/when we do...I want a view like that!  I dont think I could ever get tired of it!

Beautiful pictures! I absolutely love the mountains and would like to live in TN near the Smokies in the future. We are going to Pigeon Forge in December for our 1yr anniversary :)

DH and I honeymooned there.  We rented a cabin (luxurious one..hehe) up in the mountains and spent our days in town and hiking.  We vacationed there for one anniversary.  I'd love to do it for our 10th next year (the cabin we rented the first time is still available too!) but it's such a long drive when we'd also have to include arranging care for our kiddos.  There is a restaurant in town, the one with the water wheel, that had some adorable bear pottery.  DH bought me 2 of the statues for that anniversary and I keep them in my china cabinet here at home.  They are some of my favorite possessions.  I also have a cute squirrel from them.

Fantastic pictures!   That last picture of the houses looks like such an awesome place to live, so I can really see why it's one of your favorite places.

I saw that restaurant last time I was there but didn't go in. I will have to this time! BF and I booked our cabin, named Honey Love, last night. We will be there 2 weeks from Friday  I'm not going to want to leave, that's for sure. The house hunting here in Charleston hasn't been going all that great thus far (BF hasnt been in debt in 2 yrs, so there's no recent credit history to go on. And the house we liked needs $10k in work asap), so we briefly discussed just saving our money til our lease runs out in August and buying a house there instead.

I grew up in/near the Appalachians, so my heart lies n the mountains! There's also better weather than here!

Oooo!  I like that name!
That is really my kind of vacation; a quiet, comfortable, secluded place to just relax...and a town nearby for some fun stuff when you want it too.  DH is from TN and I'm originally from Upstate NY; so we both love the mountains.  Retirement is a long way off for us; but we think we would like retire in that area of the country.
