Ok, I know all about Hepatic Lipidosis.
Here is what happened.
I have two kittens, about 15 weeks old now.
They came to me on a raw and wet diet. My other cat of 12 years is wet only. We would do two meals a day and everything worked out.
I work all day and usually dont get home till 7-8, so I try and feed then and in the morning.
Wednesday night I fed them, they finished fast, so I put another dollop of raw, and added some canned NV rabbit, somehow the remainder of the can fell out(hand slip) on the counter so I grabbed it (gross) and tossed it into their bowl, knowing that was more than they could eat (1 whole can).
The next morning(Thursday), I saw a pretty good portion left so I tossed, mostly because there was raw mixed in, and I have a hard and fast 8 hour rule for raw (yea i know others do 15 min rule).
I figured since they had access to all that food that I shouldnt put out more (here was my mistake).
I get home Thursday night at 10:30 PM (hence the 14 hour gap), and feed them half can of wet and 5 oz raw.
That was done by morning.
Before I left, I put out more food, to which they jumped out of their sleep and rushed to eat it.
As you can tell, I am a panicked dad, I know I cant turn back time to have made sure they had access to food, I know they should never go 8 hours without access at this age (14weeks)
Someone please tell me they are ok.
God I hope they adapt to scheduled feeding.
I think I am going to start feeding them in my main floor walk in shower, I dont use it at all, and I can spray down the area.
Only problem is I like feeding cats upstairs (prevents roaches, near where they sleep and poop)
