Healthy treats ?

I am looking for treats that are actually healthy for my cats. One of them has digestive issues so it needs to be easily digested. Any one know of a brand? I was giving them temptations and whisked soft treats and they love them but I noticed a lot of chemicals in the ingredients .

Also deli meat is easy to break up into treat size bits - deli meat cured with nitrites are bad for you and the cats so try to find some without.

Also on Amazon, mine prefer the Whole Life freeze dried meat treats, and the Etta Says freeze dried liver treats.

Wellness makes good treats. Blue Buffalo Wilderness treats are pretty good too!!

A while back, I found at our local Pet Supplies Plus "Zuke's Natural Purrz" cat treats. I tried them as I was looking to get our cat Bazinga off of the other name brand soft treats with all the unnatural ingredients. And she loves them!

(oddly, while she loves dry cat food she won't touch dry cat treats)

Feline Greenies 'Smart Bites' might be just the ticket. They come in a variety of flavors and offer Hairball control, Healthy skin and coat and Digestive care. The original feline Greenies are also a wonderful treat and well thought of around these parts but I mention the "Smart Bites" because you mentioned digestive issues.

Thank you all for the treat. Suggestions ! Very helpful , I plan to visit PetSmart Sunday , I promised my 3 cats there will be something special for them and they replied " what the heck is she talking about?"

Just FYI, many of the freeze dried meat treats are actually in the dog section. But as they're just freeze dried meat (well, make sure!), they're fine for cats - just break them into smaller pieces.

The problem with Greenies is that they contain a lot of ingredients than can upset sensitive stomachs: ground brewer's rice, ground wheat, corn gluten meal, oat fiber, vegetable oil.... For a cat with digestive issues, I'd avoid them. Well - I'd avoid them, period, because of those things, but especially for a cat with digestive issues, I'd avoid them.

And I've never had a problem with them for years... They are veterinary recommended for dental control. Freeze dried treats are fine ... if they are actually all meat. But then, not everyone feeds all meat either.

We haven't tried those particular ones from Doka, but both cats like Doka's rabbit and lamb jerky (for dogs, cats and ferrets). I cut the big strips into smaller ones for them. They also like the Cosma Snackies, which are 100% meat.

Yes, most cats do not have an issue with Greenies. But some cats with sensitive stomachs do have issues with them, particularly if the problem is colitis. Our Sheldon is one such cat that has issues, and Greenies were a problem for him. The OP was looking for suggestions for treats that can be used for a cat with a sensitive stomach without elaboration. Granted, I'm not familiar with the smart bites, and I didn't look those up, they may be quite different. As to the "vet recommended..." I believe we have very different take on the weight of a vet recommendation.

And to be clear, I mentioned specific brands of freeze dried meat treats that I know are just meat and safe to feed. Another brand that is often located in pet stores that I did not recommend are Pure Bites.

As to jerky treats... I know nothing about these, but with the many, many sick pets as a result of various jerky treats, they are something I would research intensely before purchasing.

Thank You Nutro-Mike for your input...I've been on -line tonight trying to find info on cats being senitive to smart-bit greenies-

My cat has IBT type symptoms. she got very ill a couple of years ago-I had been giving her greenie treats -I thought that might have been what made her sick. So i never have given her any since,until a few days ago i give her some Smart-Bite Greenies for digestive . Tonight she had Blood in her stool.

Now it might not be the greenie? I read the ingredients and they do have wheat in them-I have her on Blue freedom no-grain(dry) and i do give her Traders Joe's can (recommended by vet) it is high quailty no by--products I was giving her temptation treats for years they are almost all corn. I'm not saying that Greenies is the reason for her digestive issues but ,she must be senitive to them and it might be what tiggers her condition.

5 out of 6 of my cats absolutely love both flavors of the Blue Buffalo Wilderness treats and they were on sale when we last visited PetSmart. My siamese kitty who won't eat them refuses ALL treats aside from bonito flakes/sardines; he's the pickiest cat I've known. If your cat with a sensitive stomach doesn't have a poultry allergy(as my IBS/allergy cat did) then these should work

Also, the Pure Bites LDG mentioned are available at PetSmart as well. My cats(aside from the one guy) all love these/other freeze dried meats too.

Well I tried the blue buffalo grain free food (as the "simply nourish" brand is not what I want after researching it) and they love it, so next I tried blues treats and again, they love it. Thanks for your help fellow posters

I'm not sure if you're saying Pure Bites are okay or not. I'm curious because I just bought them thinking they would be healthy.

Since some people have mentioned dried meats from the dog section, I thought I'd mention that the FDA is investigating jerky treats as 360 dogs and 1 cat have died from jerky treats.

For general info and recommendation.
My kittens LOVE the Dokas Chicken & Fish sandwiches. I cut them in smaller cubes, so they are more manageable. I can see how they enjoy the intense chewing. Must be great for itching milk teeth.

I like it that they are not smelly....
