This handsome old man was my husband's cat, Manx. I used to call him "Mr. Manxerson" to annoy my husband. He was the very definition of "cool cat," just very chill and laid back. He was seventeen when this was taken. He hung out for another year before dying peacefully in his sleep. My father-in-law's house seems so empty without him. RIP Manx.

This is my old man, Blue.  He will be 15 in April. Blue is battling a thyroid condition and has several skin cancers, but he is still hanging in there for mommy and I am doing all I can to make his life happy and full.  <3  Blue's story:  I adopted him along with his "sister" back in 1999 - sadly, we lost her to cancer 2 years ago.  He was lost without her and that is what began our house full of kitties.  He loves them all, but none like he did his sweet "sissy." He is pretty much the boss around here!  :)

Here is Toby, my little 12 year old fur boy after one of his chemo treatments. His last one was yesterday and we hope it is all uphill for our sweetie after this. We can never resist taking his picture when he curls up like a little bunny, all tucked in and feeling safe. He has still our little boy even though this experience has made him a little more soulful. But we help him forget with his catnip ball and his little mouse on the fishing pole and lots of cuddling with mom and dad and his 3 sisters :-)

This is Tiger, a cat I brought home from the shelter to foster because she was wasting away, not eating.  No teeth to speak of.  We got her going again, took her back to the shelter, where she was picked up by some people from one of the rescues we deal with a lot.  The family who took her home specialize in elderly cats.  They kept her and loved her for about 9 months, when her age (unknown) and physical problems took her to the Bridge.

I don't know if this qualifies b/c she has now passed, but this is my beautiful Gypsy taken about four months before she died at the age of 18.5 years, which was last year in August.  She was a little feral kitten when I found her in 1993, and she was a dear little thing with slightly stunted legs and a 3 cm long jump.  If I hadn't taken her in, she most likely would have starved to death, but instead she grew plump and as heavy as a small pumpkin.  I loved her ver much.
It does qualify, as she was very much a senior when the picture was taken. Thank you for sharing the picture and the story. She's beautiful!

This hasn't appeared in the right format. .  Did you use the 'insert image' (the little picture icon) above the text box?

Does it need to be your own cat or can it be an ex-boyfriends cat, as long as you took the picture?

Sylvester is a southern transplant from Ohio to Tennessee in 1999. He turned 15 years old this past summer. He has been a very good boy and is very spoiled. He puts up with his mama dressing him up, going for walks in his stroller and he is a very good traveler going back and forth to Ohio many times a year. He has been an insulin diabetic for many years and recently had a 2nd surgery on his right-back foot to remove a cyst. He is left with only 2 toes on that foot, but he does very well with that along with his arthritis.

This is my Babybear.  I got him at a garage sale in early summer, 2001.  (I almost named him HAL.)  He was one of four kittens.  While their mother ran the garage sale, her two daughters and three of their friends were playing with the kittens and trying to find homes for them.  The kittens were all very well socialized and had obviously been treated very well.  Babybear was totally convinced, and still is, that everybody he encounters loves him and wants to know him better.

He has always like to climb, and has even somehow made it to the roof of the house.  If I leave the door to the garage ajar, he goes straight up to the rafters.

Babybears greatest adventure was when he was still only about 4 months old.  He left the yard and I walked all over the neighborhood looking for him.  I put a handmade sign on the boulevard and the next day I got a call from the administrator of a school for the mentally retarded about half a mile away.  She thought it sounded like Babybear.  I couldnt imagine he would travel that far away, but sure enough, it was Babybear I found in her office, sound asleep in an upholstered chair.  As it turns out, as I was scouring the neighborhood calling for Babybear, the mentally retarded girl next door had been wheeling him up and down the block all day in her doll carriage.  She had not restrained him in any way, so I guess he agreed with her that it was a nice way to spend the day.

Babybear has always enjoyed being held, which was great when he was little, but he has grown into a big bruiser and it is difficult to hold him for any length of time.  It amazes me that he is already 11 years old.  He did have what the vet called a spacial seizure two years ago.  He was given medication and it has not recurred, but I do keep my eye out for it.

This picture is about 2 years old.  Babybear has never been able to find a renter.

This is my 'daughter' Amy. She's 8 years old, and she was found by my mom's friend on her front porch with her brother crying. They never found their parents. She's lazy but adorable <3

Our beloved Samuda being regal in his Catio when we lived in the Mojave.  He was 10 here.  He went to the Bridge on 30 August of this year (2012) and is fiercely loved and desperately missed by all of us.  Samuda my heart, I will always love you.
