Not sure if this belongs in Health or Behavior.

I took Luna to a different vet today for an opinion on her rodent ulcers.  My original vet said she was stumped on what else to do and wanted to do a biopsy on the ulcer and I didn't think that was necessary based on what I have read.  The new vet basically told me what I already knew, rodent ulcers are just a "pain in the you know what" and there is really no "cure" for them.  He recommends Luna be on a daily dose of prednisone.  He also gave her another shot today and some cyclosporin ointment.

Her vet appointment was at 9:30AM.  I took her home afterwards and she was acting fine and then I left for work.  My husband just text me while I am at work still at 7:00 PM that Luna peed on the bed while he was in the room.  What would have made her do this?  Is she maybe stressed or is it is a side effect of the steroids?  She has NEVER had a litter box accident.

My husband and I are really stressed right now.  I am 4 months pregnant with our first baby, somewhat unexpectedly, and we are really doubting our capabilities to do everything we already do and care for a baby too.

Well, I see that it's been almost 24 hours and no one has responded.  How has she been since the "incident"?  Has she been using her litter box since?  First thing I think of when a cat pees outside the litter box is UTI, but since she was just at the Vet, it could just be stress.  A long time ago one of mine used to pee on a bed, thankfully not OUR bed, but the guest bed, whenever he was stressed.

Unfortunately, I have no experience with prednisone, so cannot give any advice on that.  All I can say is if she has not used the litter box yet, I would go back to the Vet and have her checked for a UTI.  Cats DO avoid using the box when they are in pain whilst urinating.

It may have just been the stress from the vet visit.  It happens sometimes and a vet visit is very stressful for some cats.  It is for all 4 of mine.  I've never had any litter box accidents because of it though which I'm thankful for

Ok, I spoke to soon.  She just did it again.  This time on a pile of laundry I had on the floor because I had sorted it into loads ready to go in the washer.  Still it was in our bedroom and we were right there when she did it.  I tried to shoo her away but she was already "midstream" so she just finnished.  I went to check her litter box and I could tell she has been using it because I cleaned it on Tuesday night after the first accident.  Now what could it be?

I think it might be worth bringing her back to the vet for a UTI check. Also, how often do you clean the litter box? Esme used to urinate ON the litter box itself or right outside of it when we only had 2. We upped it to 3 and scoop 2x a day now, versus 1x a day and no incidents. Sometimes it can be just those finicky things. If it ends up being stress, try using a Feliway plug-in.

Congratulations on your pregnancy! :)
