Is there such a thing as a SAFE Breakaway Flea Collar for Kitties?

I suddenly thought it might be a good idea to put Breakaway Flea collars on my Garden / Feral Kitties,

at least the ones who will let me get close enough. However, I know that most flea collars have ingredients

that we would not want to put on our Kitties.

I thought about using Food Grade Diatomaceous Earth, but that seems like a pain,

and I doubt that most of them will hold still long enough,

plus it seems that I'd need to repeat the procedure often for outdoor Kitties.

I can't afford to treat them all with Advantage II or similar.

So, does a SAFE, Breakaway Flea Collar for Kitties even exist?

Alternately, does anyone have any other ideas for flea and tick prevention on outdoor Kitties?

Regular advantage for large dogs is safe to squeeze out and portion into the smaller appropriate dose. I asked my vet about this and she said that it was safe because the ingredients are the same there is just more liquid in a dose for a large dog than there is in the cat. I think you can with frontline as well, but I know for a fact you can with advantage. This would be a better, safer option for you than a flea collar.

There is such a thing as a safe collar, but not an effective flea collar.  Advantage, Frontline and so on really are the best way to keep fleas away from outside kitties, and cheaper than treating for flea allergy.  You also need to be worming regularly.

As well as dividing a dog dose, you can probably find it a lot cheaper online than at your vets.
