I walked to the grocery store this afternoon, got a bunch of stuff, got to the checkout counter, and a guy gets into line behind me. He's on the phone, and he's talking really loudly. Yelling, in fact. "WHAT?! I CAN'T HEAR YOU. SPEAK UP! THEY'VE GOT TWO KINDS! WHICH KIND DO YOU WANT?! WHAT?! YOU'RE GOING TO HAVE TO SPEAK LOUDER - I CAN'T HEAR YOU!!! I'm not kidding. This went on for a few minutes as my stuff is being rung up, and I kept saying "Geez" under my breath, and giving him really dirty looks, and rolling my eyes at the cashier. I finally gave him a long look, and was just about to say something - because then he was moving in and invading my space - when he said, "Excuse me - I'm an actor with the Dr. Oz show and we're doing a stress sampling." I looked to my right and there was the camera crew right there, they had moved in right when he started talking to me in a normal voice. There were two young women there in white coats, with "Dr. Oz" labels.

I looked at the guy and said, "Seriously?" or something - I think I said, "Is this for real?" He said absolutely, and the women wanted to get my blood pressure right then, at that very moment. We moved over to the back, where the two people in charge said, "We're buying your groceries, by the way." They took my blood pressure and it was 168/100!!!! My blood pressure is normally very low! 120/70, or thereabouts. I pride myself on my low BP! I was shocked!

They proceeded to do an on-site interview, took my BP at intervals, (it kept going down), asked me on the show on Tuesday (it will be taped for later airing), and said I was the best subject they had had all day! LOL!!

It's going to be a show about stress and how it raises your BP. I don't know how many "subjects" are going to be on, but they're calling me tomorrow with all the info, and I'll get there early on Tuesday and get prepped and everything.

Geez. The things I do to get on TV! But I actually was shocked at how one's BP can get so elevated in situations like that. I'm constantly ranting on the sidewalks and the streets to people who I feel are not following traffic rules (cars turning while pedestrians are walking and have the "walk" sign, cyclists who are going the wrong way and cutting me off, or, if I'm on my bike, yelling at pedestrians who don't wait for their walk sign) - but I thought I was handling that kind of stress. Apparently not. Doh.

I'll keep you all posted on when it's going to air! :D

Oh definitely let us know!!! How cool (and stressful) was that! I think my BP went up just reading about how rude he was, but it was for a good cause I guess. AND, they paid for your groceries!! That is worth it right there (hope you got everything you needed, I would be like "really? Well wait, I'm not done yet!) lol

They were very funny. After they were finished with me (about 45 min., with on-camera interview and subsequent BP readings, ), I said, "Okay, Bye! See you on Tuesday, and thanks for the groceries!" And the gal who was in charge said, "Bet you wish you had bought more!" :D

Very entertaining afternoon. :D

Yeah, I'm pretty sure his show has episodes online.

And I keep thinking about stress on the street and how I've got to learn to handle it. Very revealing study!

Are we going to see your face when he 'fessed up? We definitely need an online link! It was nice of them to buy your groceries after causing you so much annoyance.

Oh, yeah. They had hidden cameras everywhere, including in his glasses!!! LOL!! I'm sure you'll see a few shots of me scowling and mouthing, "Oh, come on!" It all depends on how they edit it, but I'm sure they got plenty of usable footage.

Just got a call from them, and I have an 8 AM call time - they told me what to wear, where to go. They were going to send a car for me - (Eek....smell me! :D ) - but surface traffic in Manhattan is horrendous these days, so they're not far from me and I can walk.

I don't know how many of us are going to be on. They were doing this from 8 AM yesterday until about 2...so we'll see. Really excited now! :blobyello:hyper:

Can't wait to see the episode. It is so exciting. And having a car pick you up! You're a celebrity! Oh - and wouldn't it be nice if they let you say hi to all your TCS friends?

Don't forget to let us know when it will be on the air!

Well, I have no idea what he's going to ask, or what the format is, but if I have a chance, and the subject is relieving stress, I'm definitely going to say petting a cat is super stress-relief! :D :lol3:

Oh that is crazy!  Where were they when I was in Walmart last week with both my kids!?

I'll be looking for an update!  Good luck tomorrow!

Cool! Yes, let us know when it's going to air. "I'll set my VCR." Yes, I still have one. :lol3:
LOL!!!:lol3:

They're not sure when, exactly, it's going to air, but they said it'll probably be in 1-2 weeks, and to keep checking the website and look for the show about Sensa. That was the topic that led the show, they spent about 20-25 minutes on that, and discussed whether or not it's really a valid way to lose weight. I had never heard about it, and frankly, it wouldn't be my choice.

So, anyhoo, there were only two of us from the D'Agostino Ambush - a gal named Michelle, and me. They showed the tape at the beginning of the segment, and Michelle sat next to the Doc and I sat in the audience with a mic on. He asked her some questions, then asked me some questions. We had gone over with the producer and asst. producer what we should answer, and how animated we should be, etc., so we knew what questions were coming.

It was fun!! The whole audience got Oral-B electric toothbrushes, because there was a segment on brushing your teeth - so that was nice!

I got there early (which is my way...:D ) and was briefed, checked out by wardrobe, had a little extra makeup put on, got some hairspray (there's not much one can do with my hair) had the mic attached, and at about 10 we went into the studio and took our place.

Cool morning!

 That is so cool! What a neat experience, and so interesting to actually see how these everyday stresses affect our bodies. I would love to have my DH wear a blood pressure monitor while driving, but I'm afraid he'd break it!

What a cool experience. I will be looking for that episode. I would be afraid to see the dirt look I would have given this guy.
