Hello, my name is Jessica . I have a nine month old cat named Layla. About a month ago, she got got out for about a week and the past two weeks I've noticed she is bigger than usual. Today Layla had a bath and while drying her I noticed her nipples larger than normal and she was lactating... Is there any way to tell how far along she is. I know it takes about 63 days for a cat to give birth, but if she lactating, how much longer After that? Please feel free to comment to this, I need all the info I can get. Thanks ;)

Poor girl having a litter so young, she could have been spayed soon as you got her back indoors.

If she got out 4 weeks ago, she still has around 5 weeks to go. As she was out for so long, the due date will be harder to determine. But they don't lactate until a week to a few days before birth, perhaps she was let out before the last time?

She was once a stray and I rescued her. If she still has 5 weeks to go, why is she lactating?.. I've read that Usually two days before birth they start to lactate. She has gained wait, she constantly follows me, she paces ... Is there anything I can do to prepare her or no?...

9 months is a bit too young to be having a litter, but in light of the fact that I am not a negative nancy, congrats, awwww, and good luck, hope everything runs smoothly for her and you, it is a nerve wrecking time, particularly the last few weeks.

are you certain she is actually lactating?(have you seen milk, tried to squeeze any out?) cats nipples will begin to turn pink and fill out at around 3-5 weeks into the pregnancy, they they do not actually start producing milk until a few days before hand.

was she actually in heat a month ago (calling and rolling, or just rolling) or did she get out before that as Missmotus suggested?

Thank you(; and yes I'm excited. I'm more nervous than anything because I'm not quite sure how the outcome will be. Buy I know sir will be a great mommy. She is a bundle of joy and is an affection hog(; I know cats can get pregnant between the ages of four months and 12 months. And IRS mote of a white milky substance. She has gained weight. & the story is, she was a stray and people had found her and they posted an ad because they didn't want her, if nobody took her, the pound was the other option and I couldn't just not get her, she's too
Cute. The people who had her didn't know the exact age, they said around 7-8 months... She still has baby teeth growing , so she isn't that old, and I've had her doe over a month so I guessed about the age. Do I take her to a vet or do I just let her have kittens?.

If she is starting to round out then she is inbetween 4 and 5 weeks, and vets won't abort (no other way around it, that's what it's called) with the cat that far along.

she might have problems with the birth, she might not. if you take her to the vet they might be able to give you a pretty accurate date as to when she'll have them but if you do make sure to ask for an ultrasound because xrays are not good for the mother or babies. I'm not sure how much either of them cost, so you'd have to ask.

Does she still have her baby fangs? If so, she's REALLY young. They usually get those around 5 months old. I hope she's not that young :(. If you've only had her for a month, she was probably pregnant when you got her, if she's that big and lactating. Yes, take her to the vet for some prenatal care, and to get an estimate on how much longer. And to see how old she is!

There's no way to know if a cat will be a "great mommy", many cats are not! Especially when so young.

Vet her and if not too far along get a spay/abort done.

Agree with this. Poor little thing, it may risk her life to have a litter so young.
