Hey.

Should I be sleeping with my 1 month and half old kitten or is it ok to leave her in a closed room with toys, food, water and litterbox during the night? I ask this because she crys alot everytime I leave her there and go to my room . It breaks my heart

She's having some higene problems so at this point I'm not very eager to let her in my bed.

Another thing: with what age should I start letting her run free around the house when I'm not home/at night?

Cheers.

6 weeks is WAY too young to be away from her mother
, no wonder she's having issues with staying clean. she's just a baby, she needs a lot of attention

Yeah, I thought so!

How about sleeping with her. Is this necessary or is it ok to leave her in her room at night?

Thanks.

Poor little girl being away from her mum so young.

You can put her in a kitten pen overnight in your room, she'll know you're close by but won't be able to accidentally mess on your bed. I wouldn't give her run of the house until 3-4 months.

What hygiene issues is she having? It could be diet related, and has she been wormed?

Hey there!

Thank you for the response missymotus.

About the kitten pen, I think she will just cry alot because she'll want to climb onto the bed like she always does when I'm in the couch or anywhere else. She can't stand to stay too far...

Well, sometimes she poos out side her litterbox (today she pooed very little while sleeping on my lap!) and her rear end gets very messy and stinky. I try to clean it with some humid tissues and even she helps alittle by licking herself there but the smell is still very strong. Everywhere she sits becomes stained with the smell... Its kind of frustrating because me and my wife want to hold her and even sleep with her but its impossible without a blanket!

I'm feeding her Whiskas for Kittens. She has had her first deworming dose. The next is due in about 20 days.

Cheers.

A gradual change of food may well help the smells & soft stools.

Regardless of the hygiene issues, if you let her sleep with you that will probably be how it is for the rest of her life!  Agree with the idea of a pen to limit the damage, if you put her in another room have you tried giving her something warm to cuddle up to?

Poor baby it must be so frightening for her to be away from her Mom so early :( As mentioned above, I have read that maybe some soft (safe) stuffed animals to snuggle with at night might help her settle.  Best of luck to you

The first few nights you have her separated she will cry- she's very young and not used to being by herself. But, it's much easier to confine her with all the necessities than it is to let her in the bed and then try to change it later. After a few nights she should get used to the idea that it's just a temporary separation and you will all be back together soon.

I personally have never tried a SnuggleKitty but I have heard amazing things. It may be just what she needs to comfort her throughout the night. http://www.snugglepetproducts.com/snuggle-pets/snuggle-kitties
