I have to 6 day old kittens and been caring for them since day one have not seen mother but they were apparently left with placentas for a while as ants already eating the placenta.
They seem to be doing well. How often should the defecate in a day? One was constipated but finally went as I added olive oil to feed but fecal material still a bit hard so have diluted their milk. Other one seemed to go every feeding but bit paste like then gradually got more firm but recently stopped this morning and don't know if should be worried or it will go eventually. Their abdomins seem swollen but the other one eats more and more each time and is very active and purring while other one (who recently stopped defecating) is eating a bit less but still 2ml-3ml but not as active and purrs only sometimes. Have been checking for signs of dehydration and give some pedialyte mix once in a while to keep hydrated. Yes i massage their tummies after feeding. Is it ok that abdomin swollen but kitten still defecates (at least once a day) and eats?
Thanks
