Hi!

I rescued three kittens off the streets, all male, and named them Sherlock, Holmes, and Watson.

I took them to the vet and got them all the medicine they needed.

Holmes has started drinking a lot of water lately, and has a bloated belly. He plays with the other kittens and all.

The rest are fine.

I am supposed to take him back to the vet in the week for another checkup on all of them.

Should I be concerned???

Heres what they were treated for just incase medication may have anything to do with it:

URI

Cocc.

Eye infection

Roundworms

Their eye infections are gone but we are still treating them for everything else.

I heard that roundworm -treating may have something to do with this.

I am really worried.

Someone know the answer?!?!?!

Thank you so much for helping the babies!  I rescued 4 kittens myself three weeks ago in very bad shape, but the two that survived are doing great.

The two kittens I have were having the same problem, bloated bellies, it was weird because they were dewormed and everything.  Somebody in this site told me it could be that since they were malnourished on the streets they could be eating their food too fast , causing them gas.  Well, I was giving them wet food only and I had to change to dry kitten food, I'm leaving it available for them at all times and I'm giving them little amounts of wet food in the morning and afternoon, but just a little, because they like it so much they swallow it and after that their bellies looked like balloons.

With the change Im happy to say, they are doing great and their bellies are going back to normal.

But I don't know if your kitties have another problem , you should consult with your vet:) I hope they get better:)

I found out recently that when you have a small kitten dewormed, it might be necessary to do it again in a few weeks to be sure that the worms are gone (all stages of the worms.)  I just did that with my stray kitty because he still has a pot belly too!

My vet is stuck on the idea that he might have FIP.  She said that with FIP they sometimes have extra fluid in their tummies that will make them look pot bellied.

I have been in a terrible state of anxiety and just plain scared about this.  The people here on TCS have made me feel a little better about the situation, but never-the-less I'm still concerned about the FIP.  The rescue groups that usually help me with stray kitties don't want anything to do with him now and I seem to be stuck with him.  Him and my 6 other cats.  It's just too much for me to handle.  Financially and just physically too.

My little guy also just gorges on wet food.  He eats  his, and then runs around and eats everyone else's that he can!!!!

:D

It turned out it was just where he was drinking too much water according to the vet!

Everything is fine now!
