ok, so I was in a rush to meet my appointment, I forgot to take out the garbage.

Monet got into it, and ate a good amount of spinach and cheese tortellini. I am not sure if Cassie got into this too, but Monet's usually the garbage digger.

I will keep an eye on him, but is tortellini dangerous for cats? Googling isn't helping!

I am also concerned because Verizon was here earlier and they threw out scraps of wire and bolts and screws in the garbage. I found this scattered on the floor and I am concerned Monet might've eaten them too by accident. ugh.

There's no reason that tortellini would be dangerous. It's just pasta and cheese (and spinach in yours, apparently), but if he ate enough he'll probably have an upset tummy. I don't think a cat would deliberately eat screws and wires but if you really think he ate some you should call your vet to ask about that.

I don't think he'd purposely eat the wires either, but it might've gotten stuck in the pasta.

I will keep an eye on him. I really need to get that heavy duty trash can I've been meaning to get for months!

I wouldn't be too concerned about the tortellini, but the spinach, depending on how much was ingested, could theoretically create problems. I'm not sure if a one-off binge would have any effect though. Just thought I'd mention that spinach is high in oxalates, which can potentially increase the risk for urine calcium oxalate crystals forming. I strongly doubt there is enough spinach in the tortellini though.  But you may not want to feed Monet any spinach salads in the near future

I wouldn't be too concerned about the tortellini..

Reminds me of the time when I was a child and our corgi discovered a yard-long licorice strip while we were out.  Now that was ugly   A sort of unintentional doggy-detox.

The tortellini shouldn't be a problem, even with a little spinach. Jamie gets cravings for pasta sometimes, and we indulge him. He had a small plateful of plain macaroni a couple of days ago, and last night he begged so much that I shared my lasagna with him.As long as it's just an occasional thing there shouldn't be any bad effects.

thanks all :) He seemed fine this morning.

No wonder why he wasn't rushing for food when I came home last night.. he helped himself in my trash!

I would only be concerned about the garlic or onion that might be in it, and one time probably isn't enough to worry about.
